Our friends David Blackmon (founder of Smoketown Brewing Station) and Greg Nichols (head brewer) stopped by the studio to talk about their new location in downtown Frederick. Smoketown Creekside, as the name suggests, is located along near the Carroll Creek Linear Park in the same building as Attaboy Beer. We also discussed the progress of the event space located about their Brunswick location.

Tyler Kreis, Director of Sales and Marketing / Brewer at Hysteria Brewing Company, stopped by the studio to fill us in on what is going on at the brewery. We also talked about their smash hit #MVP and their interactions with the NFL. Finally we gave all the details on the release of our collaboration beer “I’m Tryna Nap”.

Saints Row co-founder and brewmaster Tony Prebula stopped by the studio to talk about what’s new at his brewery and the collaboration beer that we made along with Idiom Brewing Company. This time around he also brought his assistant brewer Rich McPhee along with him.

Chris drove down to Sterling, Va to talk to Jake Endres, one of the founders of Crooked Run Brewing. Among other topics, we also discussed their two locations in Loudoun County Virginia, the story of how the opened, and the hilarious videos they post on social media.

Chris drove out to Sapwood Cellars in Columbia, Md to talk to co-founders Scott Janish and Michael Tonsmeire. They discussed their first year in business, Scott’s new book about IPAs, collaborating with other breweries, and the release of their mixed fermentation beers.

Eric Kozlik,of Modern Bar Cart, and Braeden Bumpers,of McClintock Distilling, stopped by to talk about the upcoming Bar Room Blitz. This charitable bartender competition takes place on Friday, December 13th at 7pm. Eric also explained to us what his company Modern Bar Cart does. Finally, Braden filled us in on McClintock’s 3-year anniversary party, and the release of our collaboration whisky.

Located at the previous home of Olde Mother Brewing Co., Jug Bridge Brewery is one of Frederick’s newest breweries. Owner Matt Townsend stopped by the studio to tell us about his brewery and give Chris a history lesson on Frederick.

We’ve talked to a lot of people who own breweries over the last three years. This week we talk to someone who helps make the dream of building a brewery come true. We spoke to structural engineer Brian Tarantino about the unique challenges of converting an existing building into a brewery. We also discussed some of the recent breweries he has work on in Maryland.

On the third anniversary of The UnCapped Podcast, Keith Marcoux and Nick Wilson, owners of Olde Mother Brewing Co., join us in the studio to talk about what’s new with the brewery and their own anniversary. We talked their barrel and sour programs, and Chris pressured them to make another beer with him.

We stopped by Attaboy to chat with Carly and Brian Ogden to get an update on what they have going on. Chris forced them to try Beach Drink while he read an amazing review left for it, we talked about Brian being a grumpy brewer, and they filled us in on the details of their new passion project the Attaboy Barrel House. This was also the day that Brian lost a bet and had to make a hard seltzer.

Erin Tyler, President/GM of Legends Limited Distributing and co-founder of Baltimore Beer Babes, Alice Kistner, owner of Mahaffey’s Pub, and Amethyst Tymoch, all around craft beer lady, joined Chris in studio to talk about women in the craft beer industry and community. We also discussed their annual calendar and upcoming events.

Matt Hagerman (owner of Lost Rhino Brewing Co.) stopped by the studio to give us an update on their expansion and everything going on at the brewery. We also discussed beer styles and the types that they focus on.
