Michelle McHugh, Quality Control Specialist at Union Craft Brewing, stopped by the studio to talk about quality control. She filled us in on how breweries ensure they are putting out a quality product and the tools she uses in her lab at Union.

Zac Rissmiller, one of the founders of 1623 Brewing Company, stopped by the studio to talk about his history in the brewing industry and the plans for 1623. Currently they are contract brewing, but will have their own location in Eldersburg, Md by the end of the year.

Chad D'Amore and Joe Gold stopped by the studio to update us on several topics. First we learned about the Hops and Harvest Festival and the change of location, next Joe filled us in on the end of Baltimore Beer Week, finally we talked about Maryland Brewery Tours and Joe’s role with them. We welcomed Julie Verrati back into the studio to fill us in on everything going on at Denizens. She was joined by David Weckesser and Ed Davis from Legends Limited to talk about Denizens signing on with them as a distributor. We discussed Denizens recend expansion, distributor relationships, and the up coming Make It Funky festival that takes place on Saturday Sept 28th 12-5pm.

After years of constant harassment from Chis, Brian Gaylor, founder of Black Flag Brewing Co, finally agreed to come on the show. We discussed their first three years in business, how they got their name, and Brian’s take on the craft beer industry. We also got the details on their upcoming Oktoberfest at the brewery (Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 12 PM – 11 PM).

Chris met up with Paul Dean, executive director of the DC Brewer’s Guild, at DC Brau Brewing Company to talk about the DC craft beer scene. Chris met up with Megan Stone at Sapwood Cellars to have a few beers and record a podcast. You may know Megan from her popular instagram account @isbeeracarb that is dedicated to beer and travel photos. She is also an accomplished professional brewer with an impressive resume. Megan discussed her history as a brewer, Instagram, and the sexism she has faced online and in her professional life.

For episode 140 we invited Tom Flores back into the studio. Tom first appears way back in episode #2 to talk about Brewer’s Alley and Monocacy Brewing Company. This time around we focused on his path to becoming a brewer and eventually the brewmaster at both Brewer’s and Monocacy. We also talked about Monocacy’s upcoming 7th anniversary party (August 3rd).

We headed down to Ashburn, Va to chat with Adrien Widman the founder of Ocelot Brewing Company. We discussed his journey to becoming a brewery owner and the history of Ocelot.

We packed up the studio to head back to Baltimore to check out Full Tilt’s new brewery. Co-founder Nick Fertig and Ryan Cooper, the general manager, gave us an update on what is going on at the brewery and the beers they have coming up. We also received an update on the Hops the Cat saga, helped name one of the characters after Chris’s dog, and poked fun at Lesser Dan.
