彼得前书 4:10-11

當時主耶穌怎樣呼召門徒來跟隨祂，祂今日也在呼召我們來跟隨祂。但我們要怎樣來跟隨祂呢? 首先我們必須要回應主的呼召，以破釜沉舟的心志，一生跟隨祂。其次，我們必須付上代價跟隨祂，就像當時的門徒那樣為主撇下一切所有的，包括你的家人、職業、產業、前途、等等。接着就是你必須為主獻上自己的生命，因為只有願意順服主、肯把生命完全擺上的人，才能被主使用。請問你願意這樣來跟隨主嗎?

基督徒跟政府之间的关系，也就是基督徒要如何顺服掌权者的迷思。说这段经 文容易懂是圣经原则叙述清楚，但这段经文的难点是在现实生活中基督徒要如何去行。但 是理解基督徒与执政掌权者之间如何顺服的关系，会更加明朗我们对社会的责任是什么？ 也能更加让人明白出世的信仰与入世的生活之间有怎样的平衡？ 

As Christians today, we have a standard to live by. We are to be good examples so that others may see Christ in our words and in our deeds.

有兩個話題總是會引發健康的討論，有時甚至是激烈的爭論：宗教和政治。信徒雖然是在世卻不屬世，那麼，我們與社會、國家之間的關係又如何呢？我們身為公民也有該盡的責任。  聖經中有幾處提到信徒對社會有一些應盡的責任。彼前2:13-17是其中一處：談到與國家及掌權者的關係，也就是公民與君臣的關係。今天早上要從信徒要「活出順服權柄的生活」這題目來思想我們與政府或執政掌權者的關係。 

彼得写此书劝勉受苦中的信徒，要他们明白基督耶稣的恩典在我们的生命里有何等的丰富。神赐给我们的身份是被拣选的族类，是君尊的祭司，是圣洁的国度，是属神的子民。目的要叫我们宣扬那召我们出黑暗、入奇妙光明者的美德。所以，在苦难中的基督徒可以用正确的态度和喜乐的心，去面对人生的试炼和困苦。

What did Jesus mean when he told his disciples that "you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you" (John 15:19)?
