There are peace keepers and peacemakers. The difference between those two types of people might not seem great at first glance, but upon further investigation, they are miles apart. Join Pastor Jared as he finishes James chapter 3 on authentic faith that is slow to speak.

Summary: Authentic Faith for Christians means not only being quick to hear, but also, slow to speak. James 3.1-12 says more about our words as Christians than any other place in the New Testament. In James final section on what it means for a Christian to be quick to hear, he addresses a massive issue in the church. Simply put, Christians are typically long on information, but short on application. Our authentic faith should manifest good works. Do you have faith? Then prove it.

James tells us that authentic Christians are believers who are quick to hear. In James 2.1-3 that means not only hearing the Word humbly, but also, applying the Word mercifully, especially to the poor, marginalized, and least deserving. It’s easy in ministry to fill heads and pews, but targeting the heart is a much different matter. Perhaps, churches should talk more about desires and loves and reorient our mission to transformation than just information. God has designed us for many things including a relationship with him as well as others. While we typically associate God’s creation with goodness and beauty, the reality is because of sin, death is required before we can experience all that God has designed us for.
