If we look to self, we will only find disappointment and weakness. If we look to the Cross, we can find hope, security, and confidence.

In our post modern generation, perhaps nothing has hurt the reputation of Christ more than confronting sin in the lives of believers. Paul provided a view of church discipline that's quite different than the horror stories we have all heard in traditional churches....

Every day a war is raging. This war is not fought overseas or on some ancient battlefield. The Apostle Paul says that a constant war is being fought between the desires of the Flesh and the Holy Spirit's desires. Since we live in the United States, almost everyone thinks of freedom in political terms. However, when the Apostle Paul wrote Galatians, he was most concerned about spiritual freedom. If you can discredit the messenger, you can discredit his or her message. The false teachers attempted to discredit Paul's Gospel by questioning his authority and apostleship. Nevertheless, Paul makes it abundantly clear that neither his message nor his apostleship is from man. In fact, he will never be accused of being a people pleaser. He is a servant of Christ!

Paul typically begins almost all his New Testament letters with a word of thanksgiving. However, Galatians is shockingly different. On the one hand, Ecclesiastes 7.16 says, "Be not overly righteous." On the other hand, the very next verse says, "Be not overly wicked."
