God instituted the seventh day as a day of rest and worship for Israel to remember him and to stop their work. While Christ fulfills the Sabbath and we no longer follow it as a ceremony, there are important lessons for us to learn about work, rest, and worship from the Sabbath passages.

God gives clear instructions about the improper way to speak of him, about him, and to him. Yet most people today blatantly disregard his instructions and Christians should never be the ones to use God’s name wrongly.

God demands the sole worship of his people and we need to be careful that nothing else takes his place in our devotion.

God’s ten most famous commandments were uttered loudly and written in stone for people to study, repeat, memorize, and obey. The first and most important command is to exclusively worship the one true God. He deserves all the devotion of our hearts!

Paul ends his final letter by describing the closeness of the Lord Jesus he experienced in his final difficulties of life. Our students need to trust Christ more than people, just like Paul did!

King Josiah was a godly man who met a sad end at only 39 years old. We can take important warnings that Josiah ignored so we can remain more faithful to God.

Paul describes a number of people and relationships he had in his ministry that we can learn from. He suffered well and we can too!

Paul says that he finished his Christian work and that he looks back on his life with no regrets. Our students would be wise to live now so they won’t regret it later.

Paul commands Timothy to preach the word (expository preaching) to guide the people in the church and we need to value this kind of good teaching when we hear it!

We should learn from Manasseh’s life to humble ourselves and submit to the God who is in control whether we like it or not.

Paul explains that Timothy should keep going back to the Bible because it comes from God and it is powerful to effect change in the believers life. We need to act like it by reading and meditating on it this week!

Paul shamelessly tells Timothy to follow his patterns of life and character in the last days. May our students find godly examples in us as their parents that God has sovereignty placed in their life!

With the world full of sin and sinners who seem to be getting worse, our students need to have a biblical expectation about life as a Christian in a hostile world.

A servant of the Lord is called to defend the truth, but to do so in a kind way towards the opponents of the truth because God may save them! It matters how we act towards the enemies of the gospel because they might become our spiritual brothers and sisters.

Become a more useful servant for Christ in his church by keeping clear from disqualifying sins and practicing Christlike character qualities.

Paul commands Timothy to keep people out of false teaching by not engaging in worthless controversies, but instead to be a diligent Bible student and teacher. Our teenagers need to take this seriously now to set up a fruitful Christian life.

Paul motivates Timothy to endure the suffering involved in gospel ministry by reminding him of some essential truths to keep him going. Our students should take strength in these doctrines as well.

The Christian worker is compared to a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer. All of these positions require intense commitment and work to be successful. Timothy as a minister need to be totally committed to his work, and our students as young Christians should devote themselves to working for Christ to a high degree as well.

Paul begins a strong series of exhortations to Timothy to boldly teach and lead God’s people. His first big assignment is to pass the knowledge he gained from Paul on to other trustworthy learners.

Paul tells Timothy about the people who abandoned him as well as the one man that stood by his side named Onesiphorus. He will serve as a good example for Timothy to follow, and our students should follow it today!
