True North High School Ministry

Paul highlights the importance of Timothy’s ministry assignment from God, and commands him to be bold and unashamed of the gospel. Our students will receive ministry assignments from God as they grow up, and they need to step up and take them instead of choosing the easier path of least effort and avoiding them.

We studied the background and situation of Paul’s second letter to Timothy. Then we learned about how to express love for other Christians from Paul’s example in the first five verses of the letter.

The Old Testament King Uzziah was very blessed by God but grew proud and defied God’s priestly rules and his priests. Then God struck him with leprosy and exiled him because of his pride. Our students need to learn that their pride is also self-destructive and must be guarded against!

Jesus is called the true light that gives light and the new birth to all who receive him by faith. This Christmas, it is crucial that our students are not like those people who are blind to Jesus or those who willingly reject him.

Pastor Mark joined us in True North this morning to teach us from John 1 about why Jesus is called “the Word” and what it means for us.

The Bible ends with three direct promises from Jesus that he will return soon. His return should captivate the hearts of our students and change the way they view everything in their life!

We read the details of the New Jerusalem, anticipating life for eternity in God’s perfectly designed capital city.

After the Millennial Kingdom and Satan’s final revolt, God brings a New World for us to inhabit for eternity. We wrote down seven truths that should encourage us about our final home.

In six short verses, we read about a thousand year kingdom where the saints are resurrected to reign with Christ on Earth, fulfilling all the promises of the Old Testament prophets about a restored Israel amongst the other nations. My hope is that this sermon helps their DBR reading in the Old Testament prophets come to life!

In Revelation 19, Jesus finally returns to earth to conquer those who oppose him with all the encouragement of heaven praising him!

Joash was a young prince who was thrust into the kingship of Judah with the spiritual help of Jehoiada the priest. But when Jehoiada died, Joash’s faith proved to be borrowed, not his own and he ran into sin. Our students should be warned from this royal failure in the OT!

John hears multiple choruses of a lament song about the destruction of the end-times world system and city called Babylon, from the perspective of heaven and from the world’s allies. Our students are warned by this song not to be entangled in love with the world and its stuff.

John sees a vision of a woman named Babylon, the ugly personification of evil and end times false religion. We can learn many important lessons of the nature of sin and our need to remain faithful to God.

We studied the final vision of God’s judgment, where his angels pour out the seven bowls of wrath on an unrepentant world.

John sees a vision of two beasts that represent the end-time Antichrist and False Prophet, then visions of Christ with his 144,000 after their final victory. The two sides of the battle are set, and people today need to choose which side they will be on.

John sees a vision of a dragon, a woman, and a child which symbolizes Satan, Israel, and Christ. The bottom line is that Satan hates God, his Christ, and his people, but one day he will be soundly defeated.

John is given a bittersweet message of judgment and salvation while the two special witnesses proclaim the end of the world in the Great Tribulation. Our students should draw boldness from these characters to be God’s spokesmen in our generation.

John sees seven angels sound seven trumpets and God brings natural and supernatural punishments upon those who dwell on Earth. But those who suffer do not repent, but harden their hearts. Our students need to see that they need to repent before God punishes sin, because once he does, there will be no humility on our end!

John describes the first six seal judgments of Christ upon the Earth in the time of the Tribulation, then sees God’s protected people worshipping him for carrying them through persecution on Earth. We must fear God and be right with Christ!

John is brought into heaven to see the throne room of God where he and the Lamb receive the adoration they deserve at all times! It is a stark contrast to the ingratitude and rebellion that God the Father and God the Son receive from the majority of people upon the earth today.

Jesus threatens the lukewarm church of Laodicea that they will not be embraced by him unless they become zealous for him and repent! Our students need this warning and rebuke today!

Renew your motivation to keep living for Christ by maintaining an eternal perspective.

In Deuteronomy 8, God tells the people of Israel that they need to keep an attitude of humility when they enter the promised land and all things are going well for them. Our students should be equally grateful and humble as they think about all their successes and failures.

Jesus tells the church of Sardis that they were spiritually dead, even though they had a good reputation with others, and that they needed to change! Those who are genuinely living for Christ are totally accepted by him!
