Travolting

Picture this: it's christmas morning, 2001. You wake up and go look under the tree and you see a gift with your name on it. You hastily open it to reveal the gift that will define your childhood and adulthood: The Nintendo GameCube. You put in the first game you get, Metroid Prime. The TV screen flickers and the opening scene begins to play. You are in awe at the revolutionary graphics involved ma...

After being a heroic treasure hunter in The Mummy, Fraser returns to his roots that we've seen in films like George of the Jungle and Blast from the Past where he takes on the sort of... "lovable goofball" persona. Only this time he's playing a Canadian Mountie with a sentient horse companion who's town gets taken over by Alfred Molina pre-Spiderman 2 and eventually fights a war with an indigenous...

The movie that defined Fraser's career as well as a whole generation for action/adventure fans. The Mummy is hot, steamy, sandy, romantic, intense and all around an enjoyable film that will forever live in our hearts. The boys and our graphic designer, Rebecca Johnson, talk about the dynamic duo of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in this 1999 action/adventure masterpiece.

After being sheltered in a nuclear bunker for 35 years, Brendan Fraser emerges into Los Angeles in the 90's where he and Alicia Silverstone search for two things: supplies and a wife. Jeff, Stuart and first time guest Savannah Olson discuss the trajectory of Fraser's career and what is bound to come.

Before he was Gandalf, before he was Magneto, before he was Gus in the 2019 masterpiece, Cats... Ian McKellen played The Whale... No not that whale, a different whale. JIMMY WHALE, the director who made classics like Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. Gods and Monsters explores the later days of Jimmy Whale's life alongside his yardworker played by the one and only.... Brendan Fraser. Watchin...

It's a cold January night in 2021. COVID-19 has been running rampant all over the world. Businesses shut down, supply shortages, unemployment at an all time; and through this chaotic time we find ourselves two unemployed filmmakers who during one night had the conversation: "Should we start a podcast about John Travolta?"

In this movie, Fraser really came out "swinging"! But alas, he did not hit a tree in his swing, he crushed the landing as the fun-loving jungle man we all have fond memories of him as. Join Jeff, Stuart, as well as special guests Anna Ragland and returning guest Adam Campbell as we dive deep into this late 90's classic that shaped our childhoods!

Our first retrospective episode of the Fraser's Edge is here! The boys talk about the unique rise to fame of Brendan Fraser while also discussing the similarities and differences between our old friend Travolta! Both started off as a featured extra, then a one-liner role, a lead role in a TV movie, a blockbuster lead role, and a lead role that exercises their acting chops. But where does it differ...

Believe it or not folks, Brendan Fraser does not have a single christmas movie in his catalog. We know.... we were shocked to discover this too, but what he DOES HAVE.... is a short clip from the 1999 White House Christmas Dinner with a very special guest. Hillary Clinton!

Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready for the steamiest, sweatiest, sexiest episode of the Fraser's Edge you've ever listened to. Brendan Fraser and Joanna Going, at their peak, creating a seducingly delicious erotic drama that also involves premonitions and visions. Think we're describing a fantasy fan-fiction? Nope. It's the 1997 film, Still Breathing. Texas... here we come.

Imagine a movie that ponders the question: "if I knew my baby was going to be born gay, should I abort it?". Now answer yourself this question: Are you watching said movie? Well unfortunately the boys are as they begrudgingly discuss the horrible themes and motifs of the 1996 film, Twilight of the Golds.

Looking at the title and poster of this movie, you'd think you were about to watch a rom-com Christmas Hallmark movie, right? Well you could not be further from the truth as Mrs. Winterbourne truly exposes the horrors people are willing to go through to fit into a society they thought their whole lives they could not be a part of. But hey... Fraser has some pretty neat hair in this.

Imagine a world where Canada's version of the SNL cast got together and made a wacko crazy movie that was full of intermittent skits and comedy sketches with a weak thread of a central theme that had some funny moments but as a whole didn't stand up and then after 27 years made a reboot tv series where the first scene was dedicated to making fun of how poorly this movie did? Well guess what, you'r...

That's right we're back baby!! Travolting is back with another action packed delivery by the man that started this podcast, John Travolta. Joined by a now retired Bruce Willis, this film sort of has no surprises given the current career stage Travolta is in right now, none-the-less, the boys were excited, thrilled and maybe a little depressed to return to the discussion that began it all... How is...

If we were to describe this movie as a group of women looking back on their childhood when they were preteens riding their bikes around Indiana investigating the mysterious death of a young boy via riding their bikes around town and fighting off a group of bullies while also coping with their rough home lives, you'd say were describing a Stephen King movie right?? Now and Then has a few interestin...

The boys had fun with this remake of their original Glory Daze episode as the original burnt to a crisp in the fiery pits of hell known as the "SD Card failing". But they still delivered a thorough examination of this remake of a remake that features all sorts of random stars including our own favorite boy, Fraser himself.

Cole Bradley, the king of hot movie takes returns to the Travolting family with his Fraser's Edge debut with many many many.... many... hot takes... BUT! One thing that all three of the boys agreed on: The Passion of Darkly Noon? Pretty good movie.... This episode comes out just in time for the spooky season and oh boy is this movie full of strange and scary images that the boys will talk about fo...

Imagine a movie that advertised Brendan Fraser as one of the best baseball players in the world. Now imagine Martin Brooks (Marlin from Finding Nemo) scouting that player but then discovering that Fraser has years of unpacked trauma that could endanger his mental and physical well being, and then we spend the rest of the 90 minutes not even mentioning baseball until the final scene. Well the boys...

The final chapter in our Pauly Shore side mission with the Fraser Campaign. Thank god.

The boys and special guest Adam Blythe discuss one of Fraser's faded cult classics, Airheads. A movie that features our boy Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler, Steve Buscemi, Chris Farely, and Joe Mantegna; but for some reason you can only find on Comedy Central at 11pm once a month.

You saw him prep for Harvard in School Ties, now Brendan Fraser is now fully attending Harvard in this movie! Only this time, instead of battling the demons of antisemitism and xenophobia, Fraser must come to face... a homeless man... or even better... Joe Pesci as an eccentric homeless man. Joined by our good friend, Ross Wood!

THE WEASEL IS BACK! This week's episode of Fraser's Edge reprises one of Fraser's famed co-stars in one of his earlier break-out roles; the man, the myth, the dude... Pauly Shore. You may be asking yourselves "wait, what does this have to do with Fraser? Is he in this?" Well let's just say Fraser has a fascinating Link to this film....

In this episode of Fraser's Edge, Brendan plays the son of Donald Sutherland, who has inexplicably not aged at all since this movie. The two actors play a father and son duo trying to keep their family owned storage facility arrive while Sutherland slowly goes insane and plays his pipe organ Davy Jones style above the facility's office.

You know what Jeff and Stuart miss? That weird time in the 90's when Anthology films were a thing, which is what Twenty Bucks is! Instead of following a lone character, we follow a lone twenty dollar bill that really goes through it in this movie. We do not want to imagine what this dollar bill would be saying if we could hear its thoughts.

Fraser's first dramatic lead role takes place at an east coast boarding school in the 1950's where a young man must come to terms with his identity and defend himself amongst his peers (two of which include Matt Damon and Ben Affleck). Stuart got some real Dead Poet Society vibes while watching this one.
