July 15, 2024, Memorial of St. Bonaventure, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) | Prayer of gratefulness for peace in the U.S. 15.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, We have to be united as a country and as a human family. The division is the hallmark of the Evil One, who is always messing with us to separate us from Christ and one another. We continue reflecting on our path after the providential failed attempt on the former president's life. That's an invitation to examine our conscience and recognize our reality. And what'...

July 14, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) | Prayer of gratefulness for peace in the U.S. 14.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, the Day of the Lord, we pray with humility and gratefulness for peace in the country, for the families of the victims in Butler, PA, and for the full health recovery of former president Trump. After the providentially failed assassination attempt on the life of Donald Trump, we all have to reflect on how we are contributing to the Kingdom of Heaven. Like the apostles...

July 13, 2024, Third Apparition of Our Lady in Fatima, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 13.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, On July 13th, 1917, the Immaculate Mother appeared to the three shepherd children – Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta at Cova da Iria in Fatima, Portugal. She showed them a vision of Hell and revealed that God wishes to be a great devotion to Mary’s Immaculate Heart to save souls from Hell. The three children were taught by Our Lady to pray the sacrifice prayer, especially when...

July 12, 2024, Memorial of St. Veronica, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 12.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, One of the saints we honor today is St. Veronica, featured in the Sixth Station of the Cross during the Sorrowful Mystery of Jesus carrying the Cross. The station is called “Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus.” It depicts a woman from Jerusalem named Veronica who, in an act of kindness and charity, offers Jesus her veil to wipe his face while he falls beneath the weight of the...

July 11, 2024, Memorial of St. Benedict, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 11.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial of St. Benedict (480-547), who founded the monastic life, rule, and wisdom in Christianity. St. Benedict's intercession can release our faith. His medal reminds us that we are protected by Christ's power. It's one of the oldest and most honored medals used by Christians. It's also a "devil-chasing medal," as it has power agains...

July 10, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 10.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, As we learned in the Gospel (Mt 10:1-7), Jesus fulfills his invitation to the first disciples:  “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Jesus gave his Twelve disciples authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness and sent them out after instructing them, “Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. Go...

July 9, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 09.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Christ Jesus went around all of Galilee, curing every disease and illness and teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven. And as we read today (Mt 9:32-38), "At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers ar...

July 8, 2024, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 08.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, The Lord gave St. Paul a thorn in the flesh and the privilege of abundant special visions and revelations. He chose this so the disciple might not become too elated — as we read yesterday in the Second Letter to the Corinthians 12:7-10. Paul asked the Lord three times to remove this thorn (we never knew what this thorn was). And the Lord answered: "My grace is sufficien...

July 7, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 07.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today's Sunday reading (Mk 6:1-6) tells how the people of Nazareth rejected Jesus. The Son of God came to speak the truth, and the crowd thought He was dangerous. Isn't it happening the same today? Explaining the Catholic social, moral, and spiritual teaching in our secular society is not making us popular. Darkness is dominant, and the word of the true God is uncomf...

July 6, 2024, Feast of St. Maria Goretti, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 06.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Maria Goretti (1890-1902), Virgin and Martyr. She was the daughter of a poor peasant family in Italy, well known to her neighbors for her cheerfulness and piety. In 1902, when she was twelve, she was a victim of assault: she was stabbed to death, preferring to die rather than be raped and lose her virginity. She surre...

July 5, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 05.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Christ Jesus is telling us, "Follow me , " exactly as he told Matthew two thousand years ago when the apostle was seated at a customs post collecting taxes — and we read in our Gospel today (Mt 9:9-13). The story of the conversion of Matthew is meant to get into our minds so we reorient ourselves to God, abandoning the world's preoccupations. Then, we hear what...

July 4, 2024, Fourth of July, Independence Day in the U.S., Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 04.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today is Independence Day, the national celebration of U.S. independence. It marks the anniversary of adopting the Declaration of Independence from England on July 4, 1776. We pray for peace, justice, and truth and ask the Lord to strengthen and bless America and make it a haven of liberty and justice for all born and unborn. For families and friends, the Fourth of July holi...

July 3, 2024, Feast of St. Thomas, Apostle, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 03.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of St. Thomas, the Apostle who initially doubted but, after regaining the faith, became one of the first witnesses of the faith. Pope St. Gregory the Great reflected the following: “Indeed, the Lord permitted Thomas to doubt after the resurrection, but He did not abandon him in doubt. By his doubt and touching the sacred wounds...

July 2, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 02.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today's reading in the Gospel (MT 8:23-27) presents again the marvelous story of how Christ rebukes supernaturally the winds at the sea while the apostles — meaning all of us — are dominated by fear. The boat — the Barque of Peter, the Catholic Church — is swamped by the waves and storms provoked by darkness across time and space while the Son of God gives the answer: ha...

July 1, 2024, Memorial of St. Junípero Serra, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 01.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, we celebrate the Memorial of St. Junípero Serra (1713-1784), a Spaniard priest who founded 21 missions and converted thousands of Native Americans. This Franciscan missionary was largely responsible for spreading the Catholic Church on the West Coast of the United States. He baptized over six thousand people and confirmed five thousand. Junípero was the first Hispanic...

June 30, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 30.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, In today's Gospel (Mark 5:21–43), Jesus insists on the salvific power of the faith. He gives us two proofs of the Lord's divine power and infinite mercy. These are only some of the many miracles Our Lord performed. "Daughter, your faith has saved you." He said to the hemorrhaging woman in pain who couldn't even participate in ordinary life because she w...

June 29, 2024, Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 29.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul (d. 64-67). We venerate the two great Apostles and Martyrs, the solid rock on which the Church of Christ is built. God's providential guidance led them to Rome, the capital of the Empire at that time, and today, the center of the Christian world from where the Gospel is radiated.  St. Peter was...

June 28, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 28.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, In our weakness, sickness, and sin, we can feel like the leper of the Gospel healed by Jesus (MT 8:1-4). Essentially, we feel not worthy or deserving of God's love. One of the biggest lies ever told by darkness is precisely this: that God doesn't love us because of our sins. The Sacred Heart of Jesus prefers the most sinners. That's how Divine Mercy operates. The...

June 27, 2024, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 27.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Jesus said to his disciples (Matthew 7:21–29): "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in Heaven." "Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock." The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and b...

June 26, 2024, Memorial of St. Josemaría Escrivá, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 26.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the memorial of St. Josemaría Escrivá (1902-1975). He was a Spaniard priest who founded Opus Dei. He helped the faithful sanctify themselves amid the world by performing ordinary work and daily duties with a Christian spirit. "St. Josemaría was chosen by the Lord to proclaim the universal call to holiness and to indicate that everyd...

June 25, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 25.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Our attention should be redirected to the treasures of Heaven and the eternity of our souls. When we examine our physical reality in the light of God and with the eyes of the faith, we love things with limited expectations. It’s the wise way to avoid much disappointment. At this point, Jesus said to his disciples (Mt 6:19-23), as we read last week: “Do not store up for yours...

June 24, 2024, Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 24.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, we celebrate the solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist, the Precursor or Forerunner of the Lord. John the Baptist is the prophet of hope. He was born, lived, and died to prepare the way for the Good News. The Catholic Church observes a saint's feast day on the day of his death because that day marks his entrance into heaven. However, there are two exceptio...

June 23, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 23.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, In today's Sunday reading of the Gospel of Mark (Mk 4:35-41), we see Lord Jesus' authority and dominion over nature when the disciples are terrified on the boat perishing under a storm. "A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “T...

June 22, 2024, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 22.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the optional memorial days of Saint John Fisher, bishop and martyr, and Saint Thomas More, martyr, we learn through the Gospel of Matthew (Mt 6:24-34) to seek the Kingdom of Heaven and its treasures first. Jesus is saying to his disciples: "Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about t...

June 21, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 21.06.2024

Friends of the Rosary, The Lord’s Prayer (MT 6:7-15), given for our sake by Christ Jesus, is a perfect model for how, for what things, and in what order we should pray. Let’s not take it for granted as we recite it every day several times! It begins with a declaration of  faith  (Our Father who art in heaven). If God is our Father, everyone else is our brother and sister. This prayer tells us who...
