August 9, 2024, Feast of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 09.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Every August, we honor the two martyrs of Auschwitz: St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross and St. Maximilian Kolbe. We need to pray hard that we and our world don’t return to the inhumanity of violence and war. The social acceptance of euthanasia and abortion puts us on the wrong track.  Today, August 9, we celebrate the memorial of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (1891-1942)...

August 8, 2024, Feast of St. Dominic of Guzman, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 08.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, August 8, we celebrate the feast day of St. Dominic of Guzman, founder of the Order of Preachers, the Dominicans. This order, the most powerful in Medieval times, contributed immensely to maintaining the purity of the faith. Among the Dominicans were the most illustrious preachers and contemplatives, saints like Vincent Ferrer, Thomas Aquinas, and Pius V. St. Dominic...

August 7, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 07.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, This Monday, on the feast of Our Lady of the Snows, we mediated upon the grace that the Mother of God distributes to the Church. "Just like a midsummer snowfall in Rome, grace arouses marvel and amazement. Let us not forget these two words. We cannot lose the ability to marvel and be amazed, as they are part of our faith experience," said Pope Francis during the ma...

August 6, 2024, Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 06.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, August 6, we celebrate the feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the revelation of the eternal glory of the Second Person of the Trinity. Lord Jesus revealed his divinity to three of his closest disciples through a miraculous and supernatural light during his earthly life. Before his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Christ climbed to a high...

August 5, 2024, Our Lady of Snows, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 05.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, we commemorate the Optional Memorial of the Dedication of the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of Rome's four most illustrious churches and Christendom's first Marian shrine for pilgrims. There are four great Roman basilicas, the mother churches, in Christendom: St. John Lateran, St. Peter, St. Paul Outside the Walls, and St. Mary Major. This feast commemorates...

August 4, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 04.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today’s reading in the Gospel (John 6:24-35) reveals us an eternal truth: "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst." In raining down bread from heaven upon the Israelites, the Lord wanted them to "know that I, the Lord, am your God". Similarly, Jesus reveals to the crowd that He is "...

August 3, 2024, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 03.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Evil political and societal structures grow like weeds on Earth as an extension of dark power. We face them through non-stop prayer, avoiding obsessing about the works of the Evil One. Christ the Lord revealed that no entity or power can separate us from Him. We rest confident in His eternal Word. At that time, and as we read in the Gospel today (Matt 14:1-12), the wicked te...

August 2, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 02.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, August is the month dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It’s also the month of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother, when at the close of her earthly life, she was taken up, body and soul, into the glory of heaven. This solemnity falls on August 15th. In the upcoming weeks, we honor beloved saints, including St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St....

August 1, 2024, Memorial of St. Alphonsus Liguori, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 01.08.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial of St. Alphonsus de Liguori (1696-1787), founder of the preaching order of the Redemptorists, bishop, priest, and doctor of the Church. He was known for contributing to moral theology — he wrote "Moral Theology." Alphonsus was a great preacher of the Gospel to the poor. Like our Lord did the Apostles, he sent his Redemptorists to announce the...

July 31, 2024, Memorial of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 31.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, July 31, 1556, is the Memorial of St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), the founder of the Jesuits. Ignatius was born to a noble family at Loyola in the Kingdom of Navarre. After a cannonball fractured his left leg in 1521, while he was Captain Ignatius Loyola at the siege of Pampeluna, this soldier started to read about Christ and His saints, turning wholly to God. He...

July 30, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 30.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Catholic bishops and leaders around the world are urging the faithful to respond to the anti-Christian Paris Olympics opening ceremony with fasting and prayer. Last Friday's drag-queen and transgender-led parody of the Last Supper, along with the Golden Calf idol and even the Pale Horse from the Book of Revelation, are sparking a wave of denunciations. The spectacle was...

July 29, 2024, Memorial of Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 29.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Jesus visited the home of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus in Bethany, a small village two miles from Jerusalem. We read of three visits in Luke 10:38-42, John 11:1-53, and John 12:1-9. The Gospel of John tells us that Jesus had a special relationship with this family. "Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus." (Jn 11:5) So when Jesus corrected Martha, it was with familia...

July 28, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 28.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, In today’s Sunday reading of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves (John 6:1-15), feeding five thousand hungry people, Christ Jesus shows He is intimately interested in our daily needs on earth. At that time, he knew the crowd was hungry—they had been away from home all day and some for many days—and felt compassion and pity for them all. Today, it’s the same. Chri...

July 27, 2024, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 27.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, In today's reading (Mt 13:24-30), Christ Jesus gives us the parable of the wheat — the good seed planted by God — and the weeds sowed by the Enemy of life. Wheat and weed grow together until harvest time, when the angels of the Lord collect the good seed, bring it to eternal joy, and throw the weed into the fire of hell. The faithful do not need to fear the work of the E...

July 26, 2024, Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 26.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, July 26th, is the Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandparents of Jesus. The couple's faith and perseverance brought them from the sorrow of childlessness to the joy of conceiving and raising the immaculate and sinless woman who would give birth to Christ. Joachim, a wealthy member of one of the Twelve Tribes of...

July 25, 2024, Feast of St. James Apostle, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 25.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, July 25th, we celebrate the feast of St. James, the Apostle, also known as James the Greater (to distinguish him from the other Apostle, St. James, who was chosen later.) James the Greater was St. John's brother and the son of Zebedee, the fisherman from Galilee. Christ Jesus called him Boanerges, "son of thunder.” Along with John and Peter, he witnessed the...

July 24, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 24.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, in Matthew 13:1-9, Christ Jesus delivers the parable of the sower to a large crowd: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some s...

July 23, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 23.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Yesterday, we remembered St. Mary Magdalene, the first witness of Christ's Resurrection, along with her Easter declaration to the Apostles. Still today, this declaration of Christ bodily risen from death is shocking. The bodily Resurrection of Jesus is a powerful sign that heaven and earth come together. And when we say, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth...

July 22, 2024, Feast St. Mary Magdalene, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 22.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, the "Apostle to the Apostles." She had the honor of being the first recorded witness to the truth of Christ’s resurrection. Mary Magdalene was also the first to testify before the apostles and bring them the good news of the Lord's resurrection. "I have seen the Lord," she said. Jesus chose her to bring the ne...

July 21, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 21.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today's reading in the Gospel of Mark (Mk 6:30-34) brings us the compassion and human understanding of Jesus for humanity. "When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things." The people of Galilee were anxious to hear about God and his mercy. T...

July 20, 2024, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 20.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, The love of God is inseparable from the love of human beings. We love our neighbor by loving Christ, as we learn in the second joyful mystery we pray today. If we love the Almighty God, we must love and forgive our neighbor.  "He who does not love the brother whom he sees cannot love God whom he does not see." (1 Jn 4:20) We receive divine grace to put it into acti...

July 19, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 19.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Lord Jesus wants us to be merciful and charitable rather than being caught in rituals. In the Gospel (Mt 12:1-8), today we hear His words: “I say to you, something greater than the temple is here. If you knew what this meant,  I desire mercy, not sacrifice, you would not have condemned these innocent men. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” Pharisees were portraying...

July 18, 2024, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 18.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, As we read today (Matthew 11:28–30), Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." Christ Jesus offers us a view of the Trinity from the inside. He invites us to rest a...

July 17, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 17.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, In today's reading (Mt 11:25-27), the Son of God talks to His Father. We learn how the inner life of God takes place in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Pure love is the language. "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has...

July 16, 2024, Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 16.07.2024

Friends of the Rosary, Today, July 16th, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, also known as the feast of the Brown Scapular. Mount Carmel is a mountain in Galilee where the prophet Elijah defended the purity of Israel's faith in the living God. In the 13th century, hermits and monks began living and praying on the mountain. They later founded the Carmelite orde...
