Friends of the Rosary, Prayer is an integral part of our spiritual health. Being able to communicate with our Creator is one of humanity's gifts. However, we often don’t know what to say to Him. Even Jesus's disciples had this difficulty. “Teach us to pray,” they asked Him. Jesus replied with the prayer we call the “Lord’s Prayer” or the “Our Father.” In today's reading ( MT 6:7-15 ),...

Friends of the Rosary, Our Father sees everything that is hidden and repays abundantly beyond our imagination. He has complete power over our souls, and He does everything necessary for our eternal joy — as long as we trust in Him and surrender. In today’s reading (Mt 6:1-6, 16-18), Christ Jesus said to his disciples: “Take care not to perform righteous deeds so that people may see them; otherwise...
June 18, 2024, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 18.06.2024 31:57
Friends of the Rosary, In the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5:43-48), Lord Jesus encourages us to "Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." Our heavenly Father makes the sun rise on the bad and the good and loves all of his children. Can we love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us? That's a measure of perfection. And what's love? Willing the good of the other,...

Friends of the Rosary, Yesterday, we heard about the parable of the mustard seed (Mark 4:26–34). The parable shows that God's Word, though small in appearance, has incredible transformative power. Even a small amount of faith can lead to great things. Since birth, a seed of faith has been planted in us. It's our mission to nourish and fertilize this seed so we can grow in our relationship...
June 16, 2024, Father's Day, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 16.06.2024 33:02
Friends of the Rosary, Happy Father’s Day! We thank God for all the men who fulfill a fatherly role in someone’s life. All fathers are — or should be — a reflection of the love of God the Father. All fathers — natural fathers, stepfathers, and priests — must grow the Kingdom of Heaven. In today's Sunday gospel (Mark 4:26–34), Christ Jesus explains the parable of the mustard seed, which illus...

Friends of the Rosary, On June 13, 1917, on the feast day of St. Anthony of Padua, Mary appeared for a second time to the children at Fatima and asked Lucia to learn how to read and write. She told them, "Soon, I will take Jacinta and Francisco, but Lucia is to stay longer." To Lucia, she said, "Don't be discouraged; I will never abandon you. My Immaculate Heart will be your ref...

Friends of the Rosary, As we read today ( Mt 5:27-32 ), Jesus said to his disciples: "Whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery." The Lord prohibited divorce. Christ Jesus didn't relativize teaching on divorce as our society would expect. His teaching was clear: "What God has j...

Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial of St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231), a Doctor of the Church and one of the most popular saints. Born in Lisbon, he was an excellent theologian and a popular preacher, inspired by the love of God and souls. He vigorously opposed heresy with a deep knowledge of the Bible. Pope Gregory IX called him the Arca Testamenti, meaning “the living repository of th...

Friends of the Rosary, During June, we highlight our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This devotion is a deep recognition of Jesus' love and willingness to suffer and sacrifice for the redemption of every one of us. It emphasizes the immense love and compassion that Jesus Christ has for humanity. The burning heart of Jesus is often encircled by a crown of thorns, representing the sufferi...
June 11, 2024, Memorial of Saint Barnabas, Apostle, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 11.06.2024 31:49
Friends of the Rosary, Today, June 11, we celebrate the memorial day of St. Barnabas. Though not one of the 12 apostles chosen by the Lord Jesus, he is traditionally regarded as one of the 72 disciples of Christ. He was responsible for welcoming St. Paul into the Church. St. Barnabas was born to wealthy Jewish parents on the Greek-speaking island of Cyprus, probably around Christ’s birth. He studi...

Friends of the Rosary, In today’s reading (Matthew 5:1–12), Christ Jesus ascends the mountain like Moses in the Old Testament when he receives the Commandments. The difference is that Jesus is giving a new law—or, better yet, explaining the fulfillment of the law of the prophets. Our Lord taught us the Beatitudes, from the Latin noun beātitūdō , meaning “happy” or “blessed.” For example, when He s...
June 9, 2024, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 09.06.2024 30:14
Friends of the Rosary, We are one family in Christ and share our desire to do God's will by keeping his commandments and sacraments. “For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother,” said Lord Jesus when the crowd tried to trap him. (Mk 3:20-35) Along with the crowd, the Scribes and Pharisees, in their blind pride, were attempting to silence Jesus by inverting absurdly t...

Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the Saturday following the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, we celebrate the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In 1944, during the Second World War, Pius XII instituted this feast to obtain, through Mary’s intercession, “peace among nations, freedom for the Church, the conversion of sinners, the love of purity and the practice of virtue.” At that time, Pius...

Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart, we honor the boundless and infinite love of Christ Jesus and glory in His Heart, pierced by our sins so that we may offer worthy reparation. "Jesus knew and loved us each and all during his life, loving us all with a human heart," says the Catechism. The institution of this solemnity resulted from our Lord's rev...

Friends of the Rosary, There were hundreds of laws in the Jewish system. (Mk 12:28-34) "One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, "Which is the first of all the commandments?" Jesus replied, "The first is this: Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your str...

Friends of the Rosary, As we read yesterday, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and God what belongs to God," said Jesus when the Pharisees inquired (Mark 12:13–17). The Holy Trinity is the source of everything, from politics and law to science and technology. Everything comes from God and returns to God. St. Thomas Aquinas said that law comes from the eternal law, which is identical to...

Friends of the Rosary, As St. Peter instructs us in his second letter ( 2 Pt 3:12-15a, 17-18 ), we should "grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." "Wait for and hasten the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames and the elements melted by fire. But according to his promise, we await new heavens and a new earth...

Friends of the Rosary, On Holy Thursday, right before starting His Sorrowful Passion, Christ Jesus, God, and perfect Man, gave us His own body and blood, as we observed yesterday in the Solemnity of the Corpus Christi. In a classic, timeless piece of liturgical work, St. Thomas Aquinas wrote in 1264: "Desirous that we be made partakers of His divinity, the only-begotten Son of God has taken t...

Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the Sunday after Trinity Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Corpus Christi. In today’s Eucharistic solemnity, we focus on the spiritual power of the Eucharist and commemorate the institution of that sacrament. Friends of the Rosary, The gospel reading for today is the marvelous healing of blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10.46–52) a story included in all three Synoptic gospels. "Son of David, have pity on me," was crying with insistence the blind man. Christ Jesus responded his call: "What do you want me to do for you?" Bartimaeus: "Master, I want to see." Jesus told him, "Go yo...

Friends of the Rosary, Today is also the Optional Memorial of Pope St. Paul VI (1897-1978). Pope Paul VI (Giovanni Battista Montini), born in Concesio (Brescia), Italy, worked during the Second World War to find shelter for persecuted Jews and refugees. He initiated the Second Vatican Council and further exercised his Supreme Magisterium, favoring peace and the faith. By his authority, he promulga...

Friends of the Rosary, When Peter said to Jesus ( Mk 10:28-31 ), "We have given up everything and followed you," the Lord, knowing our weak nature, responded that anyone who follows Him will receive "a hundred times more now in this present age" and "eternal life in the age to come." "Many that are first will be last, and the last will be first," He added. S...
May 27, 2024, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 27.05.2024 30:05
Friends of the Rosary, As we celebrated yesterday, there is one God, and in this one God, there are three Divine Persons: the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. The Father began the work of creation. The Son redeemed us, and The Holy Spirit sanctified us. Our God, one, eternal, and incomprehensible, sustains us despite our weak faith. In yesterday's reading from the boo...
