The great carol, O Holy Night, has quite the history of its development and appearances throughout history. In many ways, this is a microcosm of the ways in which the mighty, miraculous works of the Lord come and meet us in our weary world – just like the very first Christmas. “For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!”

Built on the foundation we developed in our ‘Playlist’ sermon series, we now turn our attention to 4 of the most profound Christmas carols. More than just looking at the lyrics of the carols (which are GREAT) we look at the Scriptural basis for each of these great proclamations and celebrations. First up: Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Casting our gaze beyond just this life shows us the primary purposes of this life. That’s why throughout this Playlist series (and throughout all of our lives) we train ourselves to live in the way that is aligned with God’s eternal kingdom and participating in Heaven’s Song.

With only two more weeks left in our Playlist series, we turn our focus to the way our songs of worship serve to not only express our theology, but also form it. We will become like that which we worship.

Our battle against a very destructive enemy is real. We are called to an awareness and an actionable battle against this enemy, and founded upon God’s Word we battle with our declarations of worship. Regardless of the outcomes of our trials, our worship declares our side in the fight!

As we grasp where we found ourselves before the amazing grace of Jesus, we will become more grateful and more evangelistic with our lives and our song!
