This weekend in the Adirondacks

(Jul 18, 2025) Access cut from ADK Loj to Lake Colden. Plan extra time due to recent storm damage. Be on lookout and avoid algae blooms.

(Jul 11, 2025) Expect popular trailheads, boat launches, and camping areas to be crowded. Some low water paddles may be difficult or impassable. Carry and drink plenty of water.

(Jun 27, 2025) Unsettled weather through tomorrow. Water temp of Upper Saranac broke the 70-degree mark this week. Damaged ladder on north side of Armstrong Mountain.

(Jun 20, 2025) The latest sunset will be on June 26th. Warm and humid conditions will continue through the weekend. High Peaks Summits reaching 75 degrees on Monday.

(Jun 13, 2025) Saturday showers possible. High Peak temperatures in the lower 50s. Rivers and streams at normal levels.

(Jun 6, 2025) A few isolated showers can't be ruled out for Sunday. High Peaks mostly in the lower to mid-50s. Water temperatures have warmed some.

(May 30, 2025) Temperatures near freezing on High Peak summits. Some water crossings will be difficult or impassable. Water temperatures remain cold, even for this time of year.

(May 23, 2025) Forecast calling for some unsettled weather into Sunday. High Peaks summits socked in with cold temperatures. Rivers and streams at typical springtime highs.

(May 16, 2025) Scattered showers and thunderstorms expected through tomorrow. High Peaks summit windchills forecast to be in 20s on Sunday. Water temps remain cold.

(May 9, 2025) Hypothermia will remain a threat this weekend. Rivers and streams at springtime highs. Trails are very muddy. Stick to lower elevations.

(May 2, 2025) Showers expected on and off through the weekend. Snow and mud in High Peaks. Seasonal roads starting to open up.

(Apr 25, 2025) Chance for a few inches of snow by early Sunday on higher summits. At least a foot of snow at Lake Colden. Water temperatures remain very cold.

(Apr 18, 2025) Whitewater rafting has begun. There remains a good deal of snow and winter conditions at higher elevations. Moderate Fire Danger around the state.

(Apr 11, 2025) High Peaks summit temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through the weekend. Whitewater rafting is getting underway. Most backcountry gates remain closed for mud season.

(Apr 4, 2025) Most backcountry gates closed for mud season. Waters around the region well above normal. At Lake Colden, 2,700 feet, there remains about 2 feet of snow.

(Mar 28, 2025) Icy conditions will prevail along trails. Below 2500 feet there is very little snow.

(Mar 21, 2025) New snow at higher elevations. Traction devices and snowshoes or skis are still recommended above 2,000 feet. Rivers and streams above normal.

(Mar 14, 2025) Some flooding is possible with forecasted warm weather and rain. Summit temperatures in the mid 40s, with winds up to 35-45 mph.

(Mar 7, 2025) Clocks move forward Sunday for Daylight Saving Time. Wind chill on summits ranging from teens to near minus 30. At least 1 to 2 feet of snow around the region.

(Feb 28, 2025) One to three feet of snow across most of the ADKs. Despite considerable warm up and melt this week, expect deep snow, icy trails, and cold temperatures. Ski and snowmobile conditions in good shape.

(Feb 21, 2025) We still have full winter conditions around the Adirondacks, with deep snow, icy trails, and cold temperatures.

(Feb 14, 2025) Winter storm warning. Expect avalanche conditions in steep areas. Sunday night windchills on summits forecast to be in 40s below zero.

(Feb 7, 2025) Breezy and unsettled weather expected through the weekend. Wind chills near 30 below possible on summits. At least a foot of snow on the ground around most of the ADKs.

(Jan 31, 2025) On Saturday, summit wind chill temps will be near 30 below. Snow depths now range from one to two feet across most of the Adirondacks. Backcountry ski conditions have generally improved.
