1 John 3:16-18

As we continue our Advent series, we look at both the good news and the bad news of Christmas, and how this is supposed to practically transform our lives. 1 John 2:1-6

As we kick off our Advent series, we look at how God gives us the gift of His presence at Christmas. 1 John 1:1-4

In the final chapters of the book of Exodus, we will see how God is responding to the brokenness of his people and of his world. Exodus 35-40

We get a glimpse of Moses's personal relationship with God, and see that our greatest need is actually for God Himself to manifest His presence and reveal His glory! God's people must long for His nearness, faithfully pursue His presence, and holistically respond to His glory. Exodus 33-34

We look at Israel who has the ultimate relapse in judgment as they create and worship a golden calf, and see how our most fundamental problem is our tendency to worship wrongly. Exodus 32

We look at God's instructions for the priesthood and how this points us to the true High Priest of Jesus, who confidently gives us access to God. Exodus 28-29

The people wrestle through the question of how a holy God and an unholy people could ever coexist, see the tabernacle as the temporary solution to that problem, and find that all of this is pointing to the person and work of Jesus.

Exodus 20:1-11

As we see the Law of God given to the people of Israel we learn not only about God's character and our greatest need, but also why the Law was a remarkably gracious gift. Exodus 19-23

As we're reintroduced to a Moses's father in law, Jethro, we see a powerful story of supernatural life change and how this kind of change produces a life leveraged for the mission of God. Exodus 18:1-27

We discuss the point of violence in the Old Testament, and see the good news of Jesus being the true and better warrior who fights and makes intercession on our behalf. Exodus 17:8-16

As we see Israel begin life in the wilderness, we see God provide a way forward for them in the midst of their trauma, and practically teach them what it means to look to Him as their daily provider.

In this final exhortation toward whole-hearted devotion in the community, James encourages delivers in the midst of suffering to 1) patiently endure in anything as we 2) prayerfully come to Him with everything, fueled by the hope that we will One Day 3) be with Him under His perfect rule and reign eternally!

James takes on our illusion of control, shows us how that wrong internal belief produces harmful outward consequences, and pushes us to live the kind of life that makes an eternal difference. James 4:13-5:6

James tells us how little will impact the trajectory of our lies as much as our talk, and pushes us to use the wisdom of the gospel to pursue a path of peace and righteousness.

James 2:14-26

In this passage, James confronts the opposite of pure religion. First, he defines the sin of discrimination and then he reveals to us why we believe it is evil and why it has no place in the Kingdom of God. (James 2:1-13)

We see this week how one of the most defining characteristics of a follower of Jesus is not only hearing the Word, but doing it. James 1:19-27
