The Sons are FREE

It was in laying hands on my wife for healing from chronic leg pain and praying “… in Your name …” that Jesus pummeled another of my religious notions, saying: “You heal her.” Say what?!? I have no power to heal anyone! Or do I?

Signs and wonders are frequent for those who follow the Lord and walk according to the Spirit. And sometimes the experiences we have contain a deeper meaning, to be revealed by pondering what we’ve witnessed.

Prompted to read what the Bible says about insecurity I looked up a number of web pages all of which recommended hurling select scriptures at my insecurity monster until it retreated. “Great” I thought, “formula Christianity. Can any 2 believers decide to get together, invoke “Jesus name” and thereby compel Him to join them? I don’t know how you react to that approach, but to me it sounds like a form of witchcraft.

When He who is timeless says to us “Remember the Sabbath” and “Remember Me”, do we not fall short when we believe it to mean nothing more than a future command to “take Saturday off” and to “thank Jesus for the wine and the bread”?

Through His brothers, the Lord continues to reach out to the un-saved who remain in this world and through His brothers, Christ Jesus saves them.

Our frank conversation cut me to the heart. I had failed the one person on earth I hoped never to fail. You see, husbands are supposed to be knights in shining armor and wives, the princesses for whom we wage war and slay dragons. But this knight was beaten and broken. Has the Father given you a spiritual brother or sister with whom you can walk in love? Outside of marriage, you won’t find more fruitful fellowship.

As I sought the Lord for His understanding about the revival that never came, He imparted a word of wisdom that finally settled the matter for me. He simply said “revival comes through death”.

It’s a sad fact that many professing Christians lead a divided life. Their Christianity is for church, the ways of the world are for everywhere else. Where everyone at the family home is a Christian, are they the Church when they assemble? Do they abide by the Word of God? Or by house rules?

In scripture we have the picture of a confident, strong, beautiful, holy and radiant bride. I am particularly impressed by the fearlessness expressed in “she can laugh at the days to come”. If that describes the brides of men, how much more so the Bride of Christ?
