Today I posted a meme about elders/pastors.  What mind-blowing, to my apparently sheltered mind, is that people are defending pastors that openly sin and still hold a position as an elder. Let's talk about that for a second....

I was listening to a radio program today that was talking about tech companies changing the language they use to describe different aspects of computing.  They also spoke of companies changing the language to make it more gender-inclusive.  Often times when the culture does something the church isn't too far behind.  What are your thoughts?

Jesus has some radical words in Matthew 5:43-48.  As Christians, in the current situation we are in now, apply those words?

Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in the post that we forget that the post aren't that important. 

I don't have all the answers, I would never claim that. But as I've been talking with people about what's been going on in our country and trying to process that through the lens of Biblical truth I came to two conclusions. We need to seek justice while loving our enemies. 

If this time apart has taught us anything, its that we are made to be by ourselves.

While running my IG page I've come to notice a glaring issue, we don't spar well.  Instead, we go in with both fists swinging in order to knock our brother/sister out.  As Christians we need to learn how to spar well so that when the real fight comes we are ready.

We have all been given opportunities to speak about Jesus.  Who He is, what He has done, and what that means for us and others.  When given those opportunities do we seize them? Do we boldly proclaim the hope of Christ or do we flake? As Christians, we don't normally deal with confrontation very well.  At least that's my take from running my Instagram page. If I post even a slightly controversial meme the comment section lights up.  So lets talk about that....

Covid-19 has changed how the church meets and communicates the message of Jesus Christ.  "Should we have an online presence?" is no longer the question.  The question is now, "How do we have an online presence?" I get it, life is more stressful than normal right now.  In saying that I don't mean to downplay the situation that we are all in.  Rather, I just want to help shift your perspective a bit.  When we understand everything we have is an undeserved gift anyway, we look at everything we do have a lot differently. 

You're stuck and you're going to be stuck for a minute.  So what do you do? You could worry or stress out but that won't change much of anything.  I would humbly suggest making the most of the situation.  Turn off Netflix, put your phone up, pull out a board game and make some memories (while sanitizing the dice). 

With rules that seem to change daily, pastors are having to make and then change desitions are an alarming rate. How do we, as pastors, approach this new territory? Today I had the opportunity to sit down with Pastor Scot Longyear and talk about how he and his team are addressing it.  If you're a pastor or part of a pastoral team you're not going to want to miss this podcast!

As I've spoken to pastors the last few weeks I've heard a common theme.  A theme of concern for their congregations and how to meet those congregants' needs.  With rules and suggestions changing daily pastors are trying to navigate what is best for their local gathering.  This can be stressful and trying.  Take a moment each day and pray for your pastors.
