Acts 15:36 to 16:10 depicts the launching of Paul’s second missionary journey and introduces us to new members of the missionary team.  Paul was both flexible and obedient to the direction he received from the Lord along the way.

Acts 14 shows us the courageous attitude of the apostles in their loyalty to Christ through thick and thin.  Specifically, these first missionaries held to their purpose of preaching Christ despite extreme opposition and temptation to quit.  Their valiant and consistent attitude is a great model for all of us.

Acts 13 is a story of the power of God at work, converting individuals on the basis of what Jesus Christ had accomplished in his life and death, creating fearless communities that cared little about the consequences of their faith because they were anticipating the kingdom to come!

Acts 12, set in a context of mounting persecution, opens with the apparent inability of God's people to do anything to deliver themselves, but then depicts an amazing display of strength among seemingly helpless Christians and reveals the source of that strength.

If we’re honest with ourselves, we often feel insecure. Those who hide it best often feel it most. But our insecurity is an invitation from God to escape the danger of false beliefs about who we are and find true peace in who he is. God made us who we are so we could make known who he is. Our identity is for the sake of making known his identity.

How does a person get on the right path and then stay on the right path for his or her life … and how can we avoid not getting lost along the way? Pastor Garth tries to answer those questions in this message from Proverbs 4.

The thought of having lots of friends is exciting. But, Proverbs 13:20 and 18:24 remind us that we need to use wisdom as we choose our friends

This passage is used often to justify the “prosperity gospel,” and teach that if you just tithe to the church then God will bless you with everything you ever wanted, and more! But as Lyn points out in his talk, that’s not the focus in this text.

The glory of God is man living by faith in Jesus Christ and walking in the all-sufficient wisdom of God! That is where Proverbs 3 wants to take us! It begins with this appeal: “My son, do not forget my teaching….”

Followers of Jesus who seek hard after wisdom, and practice the spiritual disciplines, will pack on more and more wisdom as they walk with God. But there are times in life when Wisdom can be dangerous….

The book of Proverbs repeatedly reminds us to pursue a life of wisdom. This includes how we use our tongues. Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. And since our words have such power, wisdom cries out for each of us to learn how to guard our speech.

God is speaking to us through a father who is advising his son. “My son, hear your father’s instruction….” Every dad needs to have some talks with his son or daughter during the critical teen years. That is the original setting in which this wisdom is shared. This dad is having a serious talk with his son. Let’s listen in…and learn!

Both the commands of the law and the thunderings of the prophets spread out before us the gigantic truths of God. They gave us the big picture. But we need more than the big picture. So God gave us wise counsel in Proverbs – wise counsel for daily life.

Every follower of Jesus can live a genuine, joy-filled life in spite of his or her chains, critics, and crises. To live in Christ! And Jesus is the key to our joy.

After meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus, Saul is led into the city where he spent time with the disciples. The radical changes in his life were fortified by the discipleship he received, and the example set for us is inspiring!

In Acts 9 we read about the most famous conversion in all of Christianity. The conversion of Saul of Tarsus is actually one of the most important events in the history of the church!
