The Frankencast

We're still on Island Time over here at the Frankencast, fiends! Join us for the next installment of the Blood Island series, and the first one to actually have some continuity from the previous film. So, we're catching up with doctor frenemies Dr. Foster and Dr. Lorca and the plucky reporter who comes between them, not to mention the decapitated and yet still living beast who got a seriou...

Welcome back to Blood Island, fiends! We're not sure why you just keep arriving and leaving by the same boat, but we're glad to see you again. This week, enjoy a green blood cocktail. It helps with the vertigo caused by the extreme zoom effects of the moss monster. Just don't forget to say the oath! Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't mi...

This week, we return to our new favorite vacation spot, Blood Island, for the second (or first) film in the Blood Island series/trilogy/cycle/etc, Brides of Blood, AKA Brides of Blood Island, AKA Island of Living Horror, AKA Jungle Fury. Join us as we meet a couple with a very progressive relationship that they feel very conflicted about, a Socialist community organizer, and an "American&quot...

Hey fiends! We're running a little late with this week's episode. It should be out later this weekend. But, in the meantime, to hold you all over, please enjoy this (overly) dramatic reading of "Frankenstein: A Poem" by our good friend Donald F. Glut from the Tales of Frankenstein story collection, part of his The New Adventures of Frankenstein series.

Alright fiends, summer's almost here. It's time for an island getaway. Let's go to Blood Island! Pay no mind if you happen to notice the taped-up Blood Island sign has fallen down, revealing a sign that says "Island of Dr. Moreau" beneath it. Join us as we talk about William Fitzgerald's secret job, a variety of island escape methods, and go on a long side-tangent about t...

We enjoy a good April Fool's Day prank as much as the next podcast, but this year, we've decided to skip the pranks and just enjoy a little bit of family-friendly animated comedy from the people who brought us Frankenstein Ruins Halloween. Join us to find out if Frankenstein also ruins April Fools Day. Also, we'll be discussing bats in bell-fries, just what exactly is the name of that...

This week, we're discussing the newest zeitgeisty sexbot film. Not our first sexbot film, and almost certainly not our last. Join us as we spoil the dozens of clever twists, crank our intelligence to 100%, and choose our meet-cute from a drop-down of adorkable options. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss future installments. Join us on Patr...

It's time for 2 Fly 2 Furious, baby! Join us as we get a classic '80s sequel that loses basically the entire original cast for what would seem like a lazy cash-grab, but is in fact a really good film that handles generational trauma in an '80s way to compare to the original '50s/60s series. Join us as we decide ACAB includes science facility security guards, make a body horror cact...

Wait, didn't we just watch The Fly? Uh-oh, looks like episode 177 teleported all the way to episode 180... and it got, like, REALLY messed up in the process. Lets all gather 'round with our freshly liquified cheeseburgers and talk about the Poetry of the Flesh. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss future installments. Join us on Patreon...

And so the saga of the Delambre family ends with more teleportation, so much generational trauma, an uncomfortable amount of gaslighting, and, surprisingly, very few flies. Join us as we discuss how the Philipe Delambre Trilogy comes to a thrilling conclusion. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss future installments. Join us on Patreon at  ...

Cue up The Misfits, fiends! It's time for The Fly to return, baby! Join us as we hang out with Vincent Price (for the fourth time... oops!), his nephew Fly-lipe, and his friend Alan (if that even is his real name). Oh, and so many different cops it's hard to keep them straight. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss future installments. Jo...

Before Hot Girl Summer comes Weird Fly Spring? Uh, sure, we'll go with that. Join us as we teleport into the cat ether, drink a bowl of milk and rum, and get casually sexist about our mom. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss future installments. Join us on Patreon at  patreo...

Happy Valentines, fiends! We decided to celebrate the season of love with some cheap adult trash from 1993. You're welcome? Join us as we learn what a cross between a bat and a wolf is, meet the chad/nerd hybrid son of Van Helsing, and get a little anxious every time the color returns to our screens. It's a scream of a different kind! Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure...

We're getting retro this week, fiends! Join us as we go to an Old Dark House, and meet a cast of Haunted Hill style trope characters, who are all being menaced by Lon Chaney Jr.'s grandson, Ron (obvs). We're talking about the classic eye-cutout paintings, some unfortunate racial caricatures, (and how to fix it), and gushing over a truly awesome MONSTER FIGHT! Please rate, review, and t...

Look at what we do for you people. Yes, we seriously sat down and took notes while watching the 2008 Hustler Munsters parody. It's... surprisingly good? Join us as we get weirded out by Marilyn's mysterious boyfriend, spoil the secret of what's in the tube, and unexpectedly turn into Roxy Deville superfans. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don&...

This week, we're finally talking about the now award-winning zeitgeisty dark-comedy body-horror sensation, The Substance. And we recruited return guest Alex Heichelbech to help us mansplain this fable on the plight of women in America (and specifically Hollywood) as they age. Join us as we talk about turning the camera on the male gaze, the many mirrors of Frankenstein, and the most unpleasant...

This week, we're getting a little serious with this arthouse drama made during the tail-end of Franco-fascist rule in Spain. It's a bittersweet, slice-of-life drama about a family on the verge of falling apart in a small village on the Castilian Plains. Oh, and it's got a Frankenstein, baby! Join us for one of our most thoughtful discussions yet. Please rate, review, and tell your fien...

Surprise, we're back! And, surprise, this movie is good actually? Somehow this Wild Eye Releasing film about a little person Frankenstein is not at all insensitive and is actually a nostalgic twist on ET, but possibly even better? Gasp! Join us as we gush about Andre Gower, get really mad about jerk boyfriends, and get choked up at a little Frankenstein eating trick or treat candy. It's all very s...

Happy Hanukkah, fiends! This week we're discussing an early silent adaptation of the Jewish folktale of the Golem of Prague. This one is a fun and thoughtful discussion of history, mythology, and representation. Join us as we discuss this surprisingly still effective and impressive film made over 100 years ago! Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss f...

Happy holidays, fiends! All is calm, all is bright. This week, we're discussing the 5th film in this truly bonkers slasher Santa series, but this one is about the Pinocchio we have at home. But also murder. Join us as we get our skulls hollowed out by a toy worm, get put in traction by evil rocket skates, and bang in a car at work for some reason. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be...

You know that incomprehensibly dry British humor you always hear people talking about? Well, we found some. Join us for a Frankenstein comedy from the 80s that kinda feels like it could be from the 70s. We have Donald Pleasence as a pervy Frankenstein, a feminist racecar driver/political protestor, a bunch of nameless bureaucrats in an incredibly out-of-print movie that is thankfully available on...

We're back with a classic drive-in creature feature! Join as for gaslighting boyfriends, the secret sketchy assistant of the sketchy assistant, and, of course, a swimming pool dance party! Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss future installments. Join us on Patreon at  patreon.com/thefrankenca...

This week we've got another heartwarming story from the '90s, but this time the Frankenstein is more explicit, and yet also more metaphorical? Join us as we get real mad about an evil teacher, fawn over dream sequences for maybe the first time ever, and give into the nostalgia. Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss future installments. Join us on Pat...

Do you have your tissues ready? This week we're going back to the days before Pixar, when a wild kid could let a squirrel loose in a diner, and then stay up late chasing a giant robot through the woods with a BB gun. You know, latchkey kid stuff. Join us as we all cry when Vin Diesel says the word "Superman". Please rate, review, and tell your fiends. And be sure to subscribe so you don't miss fut...

Okay, this might be barely a Frankenstein story. But hear us out. It's a light-hearted little comedy and it works as a really bizarre double feature with last week's film. So join us for wacky hijinks as a real girl pretends to be a robot, and a robot pretends to be a real girl. Join us as we struggle with voice commands, sneak food when the management isn't looking, and try desperately to make a...
