Blowing Nicodemus’ Mind (John 3:1–15). Just like you had no hand in your physical birth, you must be born again through water and Spirit. Human effort can only work human results. Changing Temple Math (John 2:13–25). Do we turn God’s house into a market where we barter? The messiah comes to clean up worship. Bridegroom’s New Wine (John 2:1–12). The first miracle is a sign of Christ the bridegroom’s marriage. To be a part of the miracle, will you “Do whatever he tells you”? Seeing You Truly (John 1:43–51). Retaining Live-With Disciples (John 1: 35–42). John the Baptist releases his disciples from their bond to him. Go live with the messiah. What do you want with Jesus? Chosen Slain Lamb (John 1:29–34). John the Baptist proclaims that Jesus is God’s chosen one but the title he gives is not expected. He came to reveal who the chosen one is. Being Role Clear (John 1:19–28). John the Baptist is the messianic foreteller sent by God to be a light witness. When asked his role, he replies on the Word (Isa 40:3). Unexpired Life Fullness (John 1:1–18). The Word is the God for it is the will, intent and action of God. Whereas the Law was by means of Moses, God’s grace and truth came in Christ. God Loving Contentment (1 Timothy 6:1-10). The natural state of human relations is envy, disrespect and tension. The lust of money substitutes worshipping God and plunges people into rubbish. Wage Deserving Laborers (1 Timothy 5:17-25). Those who labor in God’s Word are due double honor. For here is a sinner giving God’s promise to other sinners. Not everyone is called to this task. Real Widows of Valor (1 Timothy 5:1-16). The Church is exhorted to recognize the spiritual leadership of selfless, devoted older women. We pray unserious women or men grow in faith to go from reproach to respect. Good Teaching Feeding (1 Timothy 4:1-16). Pastors are called to lead their people into the Word. Not speculation. Not human fairy tales. More Caught Than Taught (1 Timothy 3:1-16). Servant leaders are called by the Word to demonstrate authentic faith. Unashamed Approved Preacher (2 Timothy 2:14-26). Preachers need to keep reminding God’s people to not get lost in God-void chatter.
