The Crossing Church Sermons

We begin our journey through Paul's letter to the church of God in Corinth by examining aspects of the context in which the letter was written and Paul's opening encouragement to this troubled church.

Abortion is murder and an attack on the "Imago Dei" because all human life is sacred. Furthermore, it is logically absurd to justify this act. Due to the prevalence of abortion in the world it is imperative that we intentionally consider all of this in light of the gospel.

We are ministers of reconciliation by the work of the gospel in us and through us. As a result we love people. A primary expression of that love is justice. Considering the need for racial unity and the desire for racial diversity it is imperative that we consider the call to fight against racial injustice.

Understanding that prayer for a believer exists in the realm of our relationship with our Father is crucial for our prayers lives to be vibrant, healthy and passionate. We have access because of the work of Christ and our Father longs for us to come asking, seeking, and knocking so He can make us more aware of His presence and power in our lives.

As we transition into a new year as a church, what change matters? And in those areas that matter, how do we change? Today we looked at changing our desire for God's Word by seeing and savoring the grandeur of His Word in creating and sustaining life and being the source to know God and enjoy life with Him.

As the series comes to a close we read in Ruth of how the Lord sovereignly ordained that Christ the Redeemer would be in the line of Ruth the Moabite. What's more is that we too are adopted into this family. Not because of anything we've done but because of what our Redeemer has done for us.

In the midst of tragedy and loss for Ruth and Naomi we find a reason for hope of redemption. What's more, we are pointed to the hope we have in Christ, our Redeemer.

The opening chapter of Ruth is seemingly bleak, bitter and dark for Naomi and her family. Or is it? Where can we find hope when all we see is darkness and hardships? Where can we find hope when life is hard and painful?

This sermons serves as an introduction to Ruth as an Advent series. It can be made evident in Scripture that the people of God should be filled with hope. Christ came to embody that hope. In celebration of this we have Christmas; however, there is much more to this hope.

How can a church today practice the healthy BIblical church discipline we see in the Scriptures?

How do we live in genuine fellowship with one another even when we disagree on secondary issues? Is it possible for a church to have a bond of unity in Jesus so strong they can disagree on secondary issues and still live out the “one anothers” of the NT in real, powerful, authentic, harmonies, contagious ways. Yes. Because of Jesus and the gospel for His glory.

We are called to walk in holiness and to avoid sin and foolishness, but actually living this way can be quite the challenge. Understanding how the gospel frees us to love is key.

We covenant to... Be sexual pure and to seek help before considering divorce. Pursuing purity is the way of a beleiver. Why is this the case and why is it such a struggle? Moreover, what do we do when we fail and shame is the result?

Because of the grace we have recieved through Jesus Christ, we can be radically generous with our time and resources in being a covenental member of TCC.

The Crossing Church believes the local church practices two ordinances - Believer’s Baptism and Communion. A covenant member will be one who understands the joy and blessing that come from obeying Jesus in sharing in these two practices with the rest of the family of TCC.

Why does church membership matter Biblically and Contextually? What are we asking our members to agree to in our covenant? Part 1 of our member's covenant - the authority of Scripture in our lives and our desire and committment to grow as followers of Jesus.

As we begin our yearly series being reminded of who we are and what God has called us to, we begin by being reminded of the call, hope, and joy of being sent by Jesus to make disciples of Jesus in all nations. In the final chapters of Daniel see the reality of the battle we play a part of in the spiritual realm, the reality of God's sovereignty over all creation, and the promised resurrected future and hope He has guaranteed for His people. Because of these realities - let's join in the fight trusting the Lord and living bold lives of hope and joy.

How do we respond to our good, kind, holy, and rightouess God when confronted with the reality of our sins? Even more importantly, how does He respond to us? See these truths from the lives of God's people in exile 2500 years ago in Daniel 9.

In the second vision of God to Daniel we see the next 400 years of world and regional rulers as well as the prediction of one who would bring great but limited suffering to God's people. How do we respond to the suffering ordained for our lives?

As we look at the first chapter of apocolyptic literature we must consider it's purpose before considering it's meaning. Then we can see how great and how good our God is no matter what may come. Daniel 7 gives a look into the end of this world and into eternity.

Daniel is faithful because God is faithful. Looking into the famous story of Daniel in the den of lions we see a wonderful reminder of all Christ has accomplished for his people.

Under the rule of a foolish man, the great Kingdom of Babylon has its downfall. How can we learn from the "writing on the wall," and how can we be encouraged by God's sovreignty in it all?

The Lord humbles the great Nubuchadnezzar and restores him to his throne. This king who once only sang his own praise now sings the prasies of the Most High. In this sermon we take a look at how this came to be, and how it applies to us.
