As we wrap up chapter 3, we learn specifically which commandment John has in view when it comes to our assurance.  Today our Lord's Supper devotional was delivered by Tim Tyler Senior. 

As we work through verses 19-22, we see the blessing, means, and outcome of assurance; and what most often disrupts it. 

Today we begin to examine love of the brethren as another evidence of genuine conversion. 

Today we review our progress through chapter 3, and finish by looking at verses 13-15, where we are reminded that the world will often hate us. 

Cain did exactly what was in his nature. So will you. 

As we make our way through 1 John 3, we begin to understand the call to personal holiness with a consideration of the difference between remaining sin and reigning sin in our lives. 

Today we began chapter 3, and get an introduction to John's extensive passage on personal holiness. 

Today we were blessed to hear from Matt Perry, one of our elders, on living a quiet life- a message we certainly need in 2024. 

The title explains what's happening here. We review the previous three sermons to make sure we understand the broader theme of the passage. 

1 John 2 concludes with some very specific instruction regarding how we identify antichrist.  Today's message concludes with a devotional from one of our members before we observe the Lord's Supper. 

Today we see the fact of antichrists, and get an important instruction regarding what we should do about that fact. 

As God issues an injunction against loving the world, we need to take care that we understand what He has in view, and how we can even begin to obey this commandment.  Also, the part of this sermon which we said will be clarified next Sunday HAS been removed, lest anyone be caused to stumble. 

As we celebrate the resurrection, we consider three questions worth answering in light of this day.  We observe Lord's Supper once per month, as well as on each Resurrection Sunday, and Lee Smith, one of our elders, brought a devotional message which follows immediately after the sermon. 

As has become our practice, the last Sunday of the month is a review of the previous few messages. This sermon concludes with member testimony. That audio will be uploaded as part of a separate series at a later date. 

Since the Holy Spirit mentions to whom He is addressing this epistle, we stop and consider the implications for us.  Following the message, we hear a Lord's Supper devotional from Matt Perry, one of our Elders at Springfield Baptist Church. 

As God's Word continues to explain how we can know that we know Jesus, we learn another challenging truth about what might be going on in our hearts. 

Today we begin to explore the overarching theme of developing in community with a foray into how Christ makes the old commandments new, and especially the one to love one another. 

If we want to walk as Jesus walked, we must abide in Him. Today we consider what that means. You will also hear a devotional from Cecil Smith, who is one of our elders, which he share with us prior to observing Lord's supper. 

In 1 John 2:3-6, we explore the important distinction between how you can become a Christian, and how you can know that you have become a Christian. 

We pick up in 1st John 2, continuing to explore the outcome of forgiveness. 

As we make our way to the end of chapter one, we consider the paradox of self-deception, and see how we can avoid falling prey to our own dishonesty. 

Today we review verses 1-7, and begin to touch on the ideas in verses 8-10, followed by a Lord's Supper devotional from Rick Perry. Please note that this series relies heavily on video, and we are still working out how to best capture our Sunday services so that you can catch up through our podcast. Hopefully we can add video soon. 

As we continue to explore what it means to develop in community, we see a sobering warning concerning hypocrisy. 

As we begin our series in 1 John and our congregational focus moves to "develop in community", we see that where we begin is paramount, since the foundation is formative in our priorities and determines the outcome of our church. 

Today we consider the experience of Mary and Joseph in light of what they had been promised by the angel 9 months earlier.
