Spoil Me

This show, you guys. I owe Ashleigh an eternal debt for introducing me to these girls and their ridiculous lives. I'm in love with them. This episode circulates around a chip shop that everyone in town loves, and it gets me talking about fast food differences in the UK and Ireland versus the US, and someone educates me on what a Curry Butty sandwich is, and I lose my goddamn MIND. Thank you all fo...

Many thanks to Ashleigh for continuing to commission this book! It's time for the invasion to begin! I'm really surprised at the way the whole invasion is going down because I truly thought that the Ichani would continue to be covert until they were able to get right up to the Guild gates. Instead, they walk right the fuck up and start to lay the smackdown. There is so much happening here, and I'm...

There is so much Deadwood to post, and I'm really excited to specifically get past this episode because this one was probably my least favorite of the season. It wasn't terrible, it's just that the con-artist subplot wraps up really abruptly and according to Patrick (who generously commissioned this episode) it was supposed to have gone on for longer and there were some actor issues that caused it...

Many thanks to D'Nique for commissioning this episode! I'm so excited to be starting the next book in the Parables series, and this one looks like it's going to be a doozy. While this book includes lots of journal entries by Lauren Olamina, the POV character of the last book, it's framed around the thoughts and feelings of Lauren's daughter (whose name I don't think we've even learned yet). Lauren...

Hurray! We're back for the next chapter of The Blood Of Elves, which is actually Chapter 2 even though it's episode 3. These are some long chapters, so only one per episode for the foreseeable future! This chapter we meet Tris, a magician who has been summoned to the remaining Witchers in order to give them advice and guidance regarding the princess they're caring for and training. It turns out th...

Y'all, I went ahead and watched the whole damn first episode of the US version and was late to the scheduled recording because I friggin had to watch the UK version after all. And I'm just ashamed. This show was really good though! What a strange premise, and what a weird world it opens up when it's set in the past but not like the PAST PAST, it's all in his head, BUT IS IT? I'm really interested...

Thank you to Rachel for commissioning this episode! Hoo boy, folks, this season has been fucking BANANAS so far and it's showing no signs whatsoever of calming down. The episode ends with Veronica realizing that a busful of people might have died simply because someone hates her so much, and that's some heavy shit to carry. I'm really fascinated by what's going on with Logan because even though he...

Thank you so much to Patrick for commissioning this episode and commissioning this show in general. I'm enjoying the hell out of it. This episode, please forgive me for going on and on about how goddamn attractive Timothy Olyphant is when he's bloody and bruised, but I CAN'T HELP IT, OKAY? Good lord, but that man is fine. I'm as surprised as anyone that he and Charlie Utter don't return with Jack...

Shout-out to Anonymous for this commission! This was fun! This commission was a special one for both me and RoShawn, and I'm really taken aback by how different Red Dwarf is from what I was expecting. I'm not totally even sure what I was expecting specifically, but I think maybe a drama that took itself a little too seriously considering the bad special effects and makeup? Something like Stargate...

I really want to thank Ashleigh for commissioning this delightful show. It's so rare for people to commission things that are comedy-heavy, and while I have my own hangups about how to cover something like that effectively, I really love having something mixed into the heaviness of much of my other titles to leaven things a bit. This show is just hilarious, and it's short and sweet as well so you...

Thank you so much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! Even if it is the episode where Sonea and Akkarin come clean to each other about how they feel. Lots of other things happen too, because there's a hearing for the rebels that Dannyl trapped and the first stings of someone trying to out him to the Guild. It's a surprising scene to me because I didn't think that the dude would be executed...

Many thanks again to Patrick for commissioning this episode! This is another episode that didn't go the way that I expected. I keep thinking that this show is going to be about showing us the grim realities of living in this era, and while that is certainly a large part of this show, that's not the point. What we keep coming back to is how the community organizes itself to take care of these issue...

Many thanks to Patricia for commissioning this episode, which marks the third Diana Wynne Jones book she's commissioned, and I'm HERE for it! This book started off really strong for me, and only continued to get stronger. Something I'm noticing about Wynne Jones is how good she is at allowing mysteries room to breathe, and while sometimes I don't really understand the reveal (and I'm talking about...

Thank you to Patrick for commissioning this series, which has turned into one of my favorite shows ever (at least so far, who knows what can happen down the line). This episode dealt almost entirely with the fallout from Wild Bill's death, and that includes everyone, from the people who knew him best who now are getting drunk or looking for information, to the randoms on the street and their takea...

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! In these chapters, Akkarin and Sonea are exiled into Sachaka, and I'm totally startled by how quickly the Ichani begin to pursue them even though I should have known better because I'm aware that the Ichani can listen in on the mental conversations the magicians are having. Things aren't easy for Sonea and Akkarin, although having magic certain...

Oh boy, it's time! I'm finally at the end of The Dark Lord Of Derkholm and I'm really really surprised at the way everything wraps up. In some ways, I found the ending of this book very satisfying. Everyone is dealt with, everything gets explained, mysteries are revealed...but it's a little bit abrupt, as if Wynne Jones realized she was nearing the page limit on her manuscript and decided that she...

Thank you very much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode, and I'm really shocked so I hope you're happy! These chapters were almost entirely taken up by the trial of Akkarin and Sonea, in which Sonea decides that if Akkarin is going to be exiled, then so is she. It's a huge twist that I didn't see coming, them being sent off to Sachaka, and I'm annoyed at the King for making this decision. I...

Many thanks to Renee for commissioning this episode! I'm so psyched to be getting further into this season! This episode deals with the fallout from the bus crash, naturally, and people are asking all kinds of questions about what the deal was with the bus driver. Most people seem to think that he took his own life, but understandably his daughter finds it pretty hard to stomach that her father wa...

Many thanks to Anonymous for commissioning this episode of me and RoShawn covering Finding Forrester, a movie that both RoShawn and I did not expect to like as much as we did. And apologies for how long we took! This is a really interesting example of two people with such engrained expectations that when a film doesn't pursue certain cliches, we're almost baffled. Like, we're so certain it's going...

Many thanks to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! This is the episode in which everything truly hits the fan. Sonea and Akkarin get caught in the middle of her being taught black magic, or at the least the area in his house where she was being taught is discovered. And by the time they return to the house, she's just murdered someone using black magic. Soooooo I mean, this is about as bad as...

Thank you very much to Patrick for commissioning this episode! This episode is mostly about how Al Swearengen fucks up everyone's lives with his incredible greed and paranoia, and I'm sad to see that Alma is losing her husband, even if her husband is kind of beneath her in terms of intelligence and probably in terms of grace, too. He's been good and swindled, or at least it appears so, until Dorit...

Hey there everyone! I'm finally coming at you with the bananas premier of Season 2 of Veronica Mars, in which I'm blown away by the huge changes that have already taken place off cameras. Things are DIFFERENT, y'all! First of all, that conflict between Logan and Weevil went way left, and Logan woke up with a knife in his hand next to a man who'd been stabbed to death. By the time the season starts...

So this is the episode where Sonea makes the decision to do something that she never thought she would ever be able to justify, and that is practice black magic. I figured it was coming at this point, and the fact that Akkarin is showing her all about the conflict between Kyralia and Sechaka but doesn't expect her to want to step in feels a little disingenous to me. Like come on, dude, you know ho...

Hey there, friends! Rosalie has commissioned the first episode of Hexed since October, and I am super excited to be getting back into this world! Also I'm happy to say that Atticus handles himself very admirably in a situation that could have gone so so wrong, and I'm going to give him some points back on that. A few things happen in these chapters, but one of the most important is Brighid proposi...
