Spoil Me

Many thanks to Patrick for commissioning another episode of Deadwood! I have to warn you all that I get pretty fucking emotional during this episode. It was bad enough that after watching the Crowdcast, poor Patrick wrote me an email assuring me that I didn't have to continue with coverage if I didn't feel comfortable. But this show has been so good that I'm going to push through even though some...

Wow, y'all. I can't believe this book is over. Thank you so much to Ashlynn for wrapping this up and getting me to read one of the more important novels (I think) in recent memory. This is a huge story and of course it's not even close to wrapped by the time the book ends. I didn't expect it to be. But I am still a little surprised at how many things were left hanging, and I am absolutely dying to...

Thank you so much to Abbey for commissioning this episode! I've been really enjoying this book so far. These chapters are absolutely packed, with Sabriel crossing the border into Old Kingdom and beginning her long journey. She comes across a few things that signal all is not well, from a terrible scene of frozen, headless dead bodies (complete with audio recording of the attack), and then a broken...

Thank you so much to Patrick for commissioning this episode! So it looks like Al is going to come out on the other side of this, which I didn't really doubt but it was still tense to watch. I just love how the show has decided to sideline him while still using this as a character study instead of an excuse to get lazy with plotting. The way that everyone just hovers in the Gem waiting for somethin...

Many thanks to Renee for commissioning this episode! So everyone, I'm going to just rant for a while during this episode about how much I hate Jackie, and I hope that you all will indulge me on this. She is the absolute worst and I'm really hoping that maybe we get a break from her for a while now that Wallace has run off with his dad. Although I could see his sudden disappearance making her panic...

Hey everyone! Thanks to Patrick for commissioning this episode, in which we have a new piece added to the chessboard. I'm so worried about Francis Wolcott, you guys. He's just really good at playing someone who has all of this simmering violence and rage right under the surface, and while he doesn't actually go off on any of the women in this particular episode it feels like it could happen at ANY...

Hey there, beautiful people! I'm here with the next episode of Derry Girls, thanks to Ashleigh! This episode was so friggin weird and I really love how much the era the show is set in plays into the main plot points. Clearly, they didn't just plan to set it in the 90s because they felt like showcasing some bad fashion and great music; they wanted to tell some really specific stories. This episode...

Many thanks to Jason for commissioning this episode, the penultimate episode of The Fifth Season, one of the most intensely emotional books I've read in a long time. This episode, we find out that Syenite and Essun are indeed the same person, which was a theory that I sort of let drop because I assumed that the author wouldn't play the same "trick" a second time. I use the word "trick" even though...

Another round of applause to Patrick for commissioning these episodes! I'm going to be honest with y'all here; there are a few things in this episode that confused me, and if anyone's got some light to shed on the subject, I'm all ears. I won't get into it here, but listen in and you will hear the moments. Patrick was in the chat and helped me out a few times, but there were a couple things I'm no...

Thank you to Patrick for commissioning this episode and the next one together so that I got to watch them one right after the other! I want to warn you all that if anyone has been watching along with me for the first time, to avoid being spoiled you're going to want to watch parts 1 & 2 before listening to this episode. This is quite a start to the season, with a time jump of about 6 months that l...

Oh boy, i can't believe we're already at the end of the first season. Y'all, I'm so fucking pleased with this finale and I want to give Patrick a giant hug for commissioning the entire damn season. This show is so good and I want everyone to watch it. There are a lot of elements that make this show wonderful, and I know I already talk about it too much, but the chemistry between Alma and Seth is O...

We are at an end. Please, a round of applause to Ashleigh for commissioning this entire series from beginning to end. What a supporter! Ashleigh, you're a treasure and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have to admit that this ending wasn't what I was hoping for. There were a number of things that were just not wrapped up at all, or at least not in a satisfactory way. And it also seemed li...

Thank you to Patricia for commissioning this episode! Things are really beginning to heat up here as Cat wakes up to find that Gwendolyn has somehow departed for another world, and left in her place a version of herself from yet a different world still. She was so upset by how she was being treated that she decided to bail entirely. I can't help but try to make a connection between this book and D...

Hidey-ho, neighbors! Let's all give Maccewill a hand for commissioning another episode of coverage of this bonkers comic series. This episode I'm covering Chapters 7, 8 & 9, and there's a lot of new stuff coming up that changes the look of some other factors we already knew about. For example, Gwen suddenly appears and it turns out that her previously tender feelings for Marko have turned murderou...

Thank you to Patrick for commissioning this episode of Deadwood, along with all the others! This episode we get a new player in town, and he's a real shady character. Alma's father arrives in town, allegedly to "assist" her, and it seems pretty clear to everyone that he does not have his daughter's best interests at heart. Alma herself seems to suspect it, although I think she puts a lot of it dow...

Hello everyone! Let's all say thanks to Agnes for commissioning this episode like a true hero. This episode we've got a few revelations happening, from the fact that Duncan has been visiting Meg on the DL ever since the accident, to the fact that Wallace's father is actually alive and in fact standing in the driveway. I don't know what happened between that man and Alicia, but I'm going to go ahea...

Many many thanks to Abbey for commissioning the first chapters of Sabriel by Garth Nix! I'm very excited to be getting into this whole new world with its strange rules and barriers between magical countries and non-magical ones. The prologue of this book introduces us to Sabriel's father on the night of her birth, and we get to see firsthand how his particular brand of necromancy works. She and he...

Many thanks to Ashleigh for commissioning this series! We're almost completely done and it's crazy to me how fast it all went! These chapters are fun because some things come back around to roost. It turns out that Regin is still around, and I find it highly amusing that Cery remembers exactly who he is after everything. I'm totally here for this, and could have done with a bit more to be honest....

May thanks again to Ashleigh for commissioning this show! I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I really tend to hate shows and movies that depend on everything going wrong because they are very anxiety-inducing, at least to me. But for some reason this show manages to keep everything so funny and lighthearted, even when things go dreadfully terribly wrong , that I can't help but enjoy it despite mysel...

Thank you to Patrick for commissioning this episode, which is going down a road that makes me really sad. I admire the show for facing off with the realities of racism in this era, but damn is it hard to watch. This episode starts with Mister Wu being furious that someone murdered one of his couriers and stole his shipment of opium. He wants recompense, not only in his stolen goods but in the live...

Many thanks to Megan Tolentino for commissioning this episode covering The Fifth Season, a book that I have been dying to read more of. I'm really blown away by the reveal that Syenite and Damaya are the same person. I should have known, or guessed, or suspected at least, but it sincerely never entered my head and I'm completely floored by this connection in light of the fact that Syenite now seem...

Many thanks to Patricia for commissioning this episode! So far, Charmed Life has me baffled, but in a good way. I'm still trying to figure out exactly is going on here, because I definitely think there's more going on than meets the eye. These chapters are almost all taken up with Gwendolyn showing off, tormenting people, and generally making a complete nuisance of herself with magic. She's The Wo...

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! It's time for our troops to regroup and figure out how to separate the Ichani from one another so that they can take them down separately. It's really their only chance, and the concept that they devise is actually really smart. At least SOMEONE in this damn city is using their heads! Also, I have to admit that I'm impressed with Cery and his s...

Many thanks again to Patrick for commissioning these episodes! I'm dying a little inside because I can't see a way for Seth and Alma to get together but I WANT THEM TO BE SO BAD. They are CLEARLY perfect for each other, and omg it's excruciating to watch them wanting to tear each others' clothes off and i just NEED them to be a couple pretty please. In other news, because of the treaty that's supp...

Hey everyone, I'm here with the next episode of The Blood Of Elves thanks to Melanie! This episode we get to find out a little more of what happened to Triss, and it seems like the situation was pretty fucking nightmarish. She's a real badass for being as collected as she is, and I'm super curious what this voice that keeps taunting her is up to. Understandably, Triss has some pretty strong feelin...
