He is Risen!  

Jesus made definitive steps toward Jerusalem. Jesus understood his purpose and the cross was necessary.  Because of Jesus' sacrifice we live without condemnation and are no longer under the wrath of God.   

Our sermon today is from the gosepl of Mark. We look at the triumphal entry.  Jesus is the Savior of all people, so all must call upon Him to be saved.  All praise and glory belongs to Jesus, we should never stop praising Him for all he He does. 

Wrapping up the book of Acts. We review the major people from the book of Acts and how they spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.  People need the gospel, we need to preach it whenever and wherever we can. The gospel of Jesus Christ is our only hope. 

Paul continues in his journey to Rome and then while imprisoned in Rome continues to serve Christ by spreading the gospel.  We have the same Holy Spirit living in us and enabling us to do the same. Do we take advantage of the opportunities we have to spread the gospel? People should be changed and impacted by the gospel as we live it. Are you living in a way that this is true?

In the passage today, Paul and the other sailors survive the shipwreck and end up on the island of Malta. Paul is imprisoned, on his way to Rome, has now survived a shipwreck and is stranded on an island. On top of that he is bitten by a poisonous snake. In today's message we see Paul demonstratig what its like to trust and obey God, even as he's headed for a shipwreck.  Paul chose to hear what the Lord said to him, he chose to believe what the Lord told him, and he chose to obey the Lord.  Are you going to do the same? 

Paul continues to testify in front of King Agrippa and Festus. After sharing his testimony, Festus declares him crazy, King Agrippa shares a sarcastic response, but seems to almost believe Paul's testimony.  Do you share your personal testimony? Do your friends, neighbors, coworkers know about Jesus Christ and what he has done for you?

Paul is still imprisoned and the Jews are plotting to kill him. Paul is brought before Festus and King Agrippa and defends himself and asks to be sent to Rome.  Paul is believing God's faithfulness for his life. He's remembering promises made to him and choosing to believe that God will accomplish what he has promised.  Do you live that way? Are you trusting God with the details of your life? Are...

Even as Christians we will go through trials and struggles. Our challenge is to continue to seek God's grace and to love fervently in the midst of our life, no matter what it looks like. In this passage Jesus demonstrates how we should view and interact with people around us. Jesus broke every norm and every reason that Jews followed to share the gospel. The miracles and signs of Jesus are recorded in the gospels to show us about Jesus. To reveal something to us to help us believe that He is the Sovereign Lord over all.  The first step in coming to a saving faith is to recognize the deep dissatisfaction in your life, over your spriritual condition. In our passage today Jesus warns about the coming of the Son of Man. Jesus taught the disciples about His future return and what their responsibilities were in light of it. Are you prepared for the Jesus' second coming? Do you live expectantly? Are you consistent and faithful? Do you live for this world or in light of the next world? 

How do you respond to authority? Who has authority in the world and in your life?  God should be the authority over your life. We struggle with this, we want to be our own little king, we want things our way. Its time to give up my thinking and accept God's way. Submit to Jesus, live intentionally aware of the sacrifice that Jesus made for you.

Do you prefer to serve or be served?  We have learned this Christmas season that Jesus is the Son of God and He came to preach the gospel, to call sinners to repentance and to serve.  Jesus came to serve, selflessly and sacrificially.  How do you respond? Do you have a heart to serve? Are you living a life looking to Jesus as your example of how to serve selflessly and sacrificially?  

The scripture today shows Jesus preaching in Galilee. He heals a leper and forgives a paralytic man. Jesus calls Matthew to be a follower and goes to eat with tax collectors and sinners. The religious leaders were angered by this and Jesus said He came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.  We are all sinners and desperately need Jesus everyday. He calls sinners to repentance,...

The other gospels all tell us how Jesus came, but the book of Mark tells us why Jesus came. We learn that Jesus is the son of God who deserves our worship in every way.  What will be your focus this Christmas? Will it be on Jesus? Will the others you encounter be able to tell that you're a Christian?

For what are you thankful for? Having just celebrated Thanksgiving we take some time to look at Psalm 147.  Our life should have a foundation of praise. We can praise God because He works providentially in our lives, heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds. He lifts up the humble and casts down the wicked. He delights in His people and He is worthy of our praise!

In today's reading Paul goes before Felix to defend himself after the Jews accused him of trying to profane the temple. Paul defends himself by telling Felix his motivation from the gospel. Felix postpones making a decision, but spends years asking Paul to talk with him and his wife about Christ. Paul kept his focus on the gospel and never lost his purpose. How about you? Paul is taken before the Sanhedrin, he angers the crowd and the Jews vow to kill Paul. However, God has other plans and spoils the plot. God demonstrates care for paul thought his presence, providence, protection and provision of wisdom.  He does the same for us. God provides us with everything we need for life and godliness. The message today centers on Paul's arrest in Jerusalem. Paul enters the temple and is falsely accused. The crowd is stirred up by Jews and soon they are trying to kill Paul. He is then arrested and shares his testimony with the crowd.  While sharing his testimony Paul shared his unsaved past, his salvation experience, his growth as a follower of Jesus and his obedience to the Lord. This week we see Paul travel to and arrive in Jerusalem. Paul continues to commit to following the Lord even when it could come at great personal cost. Paul was committed to seeing the church grow and spread.  How willing are you to follow the will of the Lord? Will you serve even at great personal cost?
