small and simple: a daily verse

Alma 60:24 really stuck out to me when I was on my mission and it was because of these 6 words. "Begin to be up and doing." What does it mean to, begin to be up and doing? And we also talk about battling daily struggles by first cleansing our inner selves. I love you all and God does too!

Preach My Gospel outlines the things that missionaries should teach. I wanted to share my testimony of the first lesson with you today. The message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God does call prophets!

We read verses 20 and 21 and then I sing We'll Bring the World His Truth, the song about the Army of Helaman. I Know That My Redeemer Lives. Jesus lives so you can too.

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Hymn 1001, has been a favorite song of mine for a very long time and serves as a reminder to me that the Lord is someone to sing about. It reminds me who I am in debted to. My savior, Jesus Christ. It is because of HIS grace we are saved.

Doctrine and Covenants 4:7 is a common phrase found all throughout scripture, but why do we see it in a chapter about missionary work? I share some thoughts today about this and I am so grateful for you guys for joining me this week!

Doctrine and Covenants 4:6 talk about Christlike attributes. We also talk about Chapter 6 in Preach My Gospel: A Guide to Missionary Service. The chapter is titled, "How Do I Develop Christlike Attributes?" I also share an experience from my mission about developing the Christlike attribute of patience.

Doctrine and Covenants 4:5 lays out for us what we need to be qualified to do the Lord's work. It isn't eloquent speaking, or perfect knowledge of the scriptures. It isn't complete confidence or even a perfect testimony of the Savior. All we need is 5 things. Faith, hope, charity, love, and having an eye single to his glory.

God asks that we work in his field, bringing souls back to him. We read this in Doctrine and Covenants 4:4. The working and harvesting is missionary work. Not just having a tag, but it is ministering and being a friend to people we meet. It is smiling at someone or helping someone with their groceries. And so much more. It is doing as Christ would. What can you do to bring souls back into the fold...

Today we read Doctrine and Covenants 4:3. I will ask a couple questions and hope that you will let the spirit help you answer them. What does it mean to have desires to serve God and what does that look like? What does it mean to be called to the work? Why are we called to the work when we have desires to serve God? I love you all and God does too!

Have you ever wondered what it takes to stand blameless before God? God tells us the answer in Doctrine and Covenants 4:2. We need to EMBARK in the service of God, giving everything we have, and we will stand blameless before him at the last day.

This week we will focus on Doctrine and Covenants 4. It is revelation given through the Prophet Jospeh Smith to his father, Joseph Smith Sr. However, it is relevant to us. As we talk about this section this week, we will learn about how the Lord calls us to assist with his work and the blessings involved when we serve him and others. We will also talk about the attributes of a disciple of Christ.

Mosiah 4:27 is today's verse. In this King Benjamin continues his address to his people. He talks about how we need to not run faster than we have strength. And how all things must be done in order and I share my thoughts with what that might mean. We also talk about how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a church of order.

My dad, Dave, asked me again to share some more of his thoughts on likening the scriptures to ourselves. He shares Doctrine and Covenants 30:1-4, a revelation given through Joseph Smith to David Whitmer. David Whitmer wasn't following the Lord the way he needed to and this is him being reminded of who he was serving. And he was called again to serve God. Sometimes in this life we need a course...

A couple of nights ago, my dad sent me a voice memo! He recorded an episode out of the blue! What he shares is not only inspired, but incredibly relevant to today's world. He reads Doctrine and Covenants 14:11, which reminds us that if we are faithful, great shall be our reward. We also see how important it is to liken the scriptures unto ourselves!
