The covenant that God establishes with his people is indelible and enduring.

The self-righteousness and self-reliance of sinful humanity suppresses God’s truth and leads us to inadequate solutions to solve our sin problem. "Obeying the truth" i.e. repenting and believing the gospel leads us to genuine hope and spiritual transformation.

Paul wrote Romans so united, humble Christians would be prepared for gospel partnerships essential to the hope of the world. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..." (Romans 1:16).

In the Hebrew calendar New Year’s is a month-long celebration. Each day centers around the theme of absolution. Instead of resolutions – which are about a self-makeover, what if we begin this year with an absolution? – which is about a make-over by God.

Psalm 103 describes the Lord as praiseworthy, gracious, dependable, a covenant-keeping God of grandeur who has "established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all."

Christ had a true human body, real physicality, but without sin. He is able to redeem every aspect of our physicality. Christ had a true human mind. Christ took to himself a real human mind to save our human minds. Christ had a real, sinless emotional life. Christ saves us in our emotional distresses.

As God's people seek and follow him, He is in their presence, rejoicing over them with gladness, delighting and exulting over them with singing. God is in our midst, mighty to save, rejoicing over us.

Joy in hard moments, a joyful people in the world, and a joyful purpose in every season. Come, Desire of Nations, come.

The prophet Micah foretells the unlikely choice of Bethlehem as the hometown of the Messiah, the "greater David" whose lineage would be both kingly and eternal.

What “hopeful waiting” meant for the ancient Israelite exiles, what it meant for the disciples at the cross, what it means for the Church today, and what it means for the saints in heaven. -- Advent is the season during which we remember the thousands of years God’s people were anticipating and longing for the coming of God’s salvation, for Jesus.

Jesus's recipe for revival and the astonishing reality of His power.

Christ demonstrated patient endurance both in his life and in his death, and he encourages the church to follow him in exhibiting patient endurance, the capacity to hold out or bear up in the face of difficulty.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” John 20:21

In 1 Samuel 8, the people want an earthly king to lead them, “like all the nations” (v. 5). Like the ancient Israelites, today God’s people often reject his kingship and instead follow the ways of the world around them.

In a world full of idols and temptations, Christians are blessed by repenting for sin and obeying Jesus’ word.

Christians can still thrive even when the world has all the power and simply believing in Jesus and living for him is risky. “Do not fear what you are about to suffer… Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Rev. 2:10)

In his letters to the seven churches, Jesus commends the churches for holding truth tightly, corrects their waning witness and promises a forever reunion.

Christians can experience blessing even when the world’s values and power structures make following Jesus challenging. God’s people, loved, freed and purposed through a present, powerful Redeemer, can thrive in challenging environments.

What happens at baptism, why, and the goodness of it all, is so significant that it is one of the last instructions Jesus gives to the church (Matt. 28:18-20).

Like signposts, sacraments point to things, and like a certificate of authenticity, they affirm as true the truths they point to. The Lord’s Supper is a meal that tells me whose I am.

The Word of God is our only sure source of comfort and courage in this sin impacted and troubled world. Psalm 119:17-24 encourages the people of God to be resilient during troubled times by seeking comfort in God’s works and finding courage in God’s Word.

God uses his word to transform our desires and our delights.

Psalm 119 celebrates the gift of God’s Word, how the God of grace uses his word of grace to promote transformation in the lives of the people he saves.

Effectively, productively, joyfully connected to the vine, and to one another.
