God appoints every season of our lives. Rather than fighting against them, wisdom receives each season from His hand, enjoys His gifts within it, and faithfully does the work He gives.

We can find enjoyment in this world of futility and injustice by accepting the limitations God has set upon this life. Embrace the simple goods God gives you, find satisfaction in your work as unto the Lord, and trust Him to set all things in order in the appointed time. Above all, live in relationship with Him.

A life of wisdom and hard work appears better than a life of foolish waste, yet the same suffering, sorrow, toil, and death happen to everyone alike. This makes life under the sun bitter and seemingly unjust. The gospel answers this despair by promising a final judgment that gives eternal meaning to our labor and a grace-given inheritance for all who belong to Christ.

If we make pleasure and the pursuit of happiness the goal of our lives, we will find only emptiness. True and lasting joy is found as a byproduct of living to please God rather than ourselves.

Through his death and resurrection, Jesus is crowned as the victorious and glorious King, worthy of all worship for all eternity.

Jesus, the Lord of Life, Love, Peace, and Joy took up our sorrows, pain, guilt, and curse to graciously restore to his sheep the eternal bliss, honor, and fellowship with God that were lost because of our sin. Hallelujah, what a Savior!

In seasons of discipline, sorrow, and hardship, we can be sustained by meditation upon the unfailing character of our God. Our hope does not rest upon our performance but upon his mercy and grace.

God disciplines his followers for their sin so that they become mature and complete. When we sin, we should humbly turn to God, confess our sin, listen to his rebuke, and embrace whatever discipline results from our failure - confident of his affection for us as his children.

Satan's strategies for temptation are ancient but effective - if we allow it. The Bible tells us what to look out for, and how to be prepared to avoid falling into sin.

Though the Lord may at times rebuke and discipline us, his last word to us is that of blessing; a call to dwell in his goodness by actively yielding to his rod as he lead us beside his still waters of refreshing and nourishment - dwelling peacefully within the community of his sheepfold.

God's authority in the church reflects the heart of Christ: self-forgetting, bound to the truth, and always aimed at building up His people. Therefore we must live honorably for His name, submit to His truth, and receive correction as beloved children being strengthened, not destroyed.

The threat of false confidence is real, but so is genuine assurance— certain knowledge that we belongs to Christ. We must therefore examine ourselves to see if Christ is truly in us; by our doctrine, by our obedience, by our growth in grace, and by the testimony of the Spirit—and rest our confidence not on anything we find in ourselves but Jesus.

Christ speaks and acts through his church, and when his patience is despised and repentance is refused, his power is revealed in discipline. This is necessary not only for the health of the church, but for the honor of Christ, who was crucified in weakness but now reigns in power and glory.

Because Christ loves His church and seeks her edification, sin must not be tolerated in our lives or among God's people. Spiritual growth requires repentance that names sin truthfully, mourns it humbly, and brings it to an end so that the church may be refined into Christlikeness.

True teachers are established by God rather than by human approval. They stand under apostolic authority rather than asserting their own. They know themselves to be nothing apart from Christ, give themselves sacrificially even when mistreated, labor for unity rather than division, and allow the spiritual good of the saints—not self-vindication—to govern everything they do.

God works powerfully through those who recognize and display their own weakness, so that he gets all the glory. Our confidence should not be in any of our own strengths, but in God's grace. A person who is secure in Christ points to Jesus rather than themselves, joins with Jesus in his sufferings for his church, and lets their weaknesses be seen to magnify God's power.

Believers must remain watchful and faithful to Christ by guarding the truth about who he is and what he has accomplished in the gospel. False teachers often appear impressive, persuasive, and spiritually compelling, yet they reveal themselves by their self-interest, adoption of the world's values and methods, and their subtle distortion of Jesus and his salvation.

If we seek self-worth or approval by comparing ourselves to others, we will experience false pride, constant insecurity, and a loveless competitive spirit with others. Our true confidence, approval, and worth are found in what God says about us. All who know God through Jesus Christ can find rest and joy in God's eternal commendation of them.
