Want more energy? Do this... No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 29.06.2025 0:56
I've had so much more energy after switching things up with my macros again. I tried a full-on carnivore diet (well, animal based, really since I was drinking milk), and my psoriasis was acting up a little, and my energy was a little low. After that sugar fasting fail, I realized I'm not as sure a full carnivore diet is optimal for me. It works for some and not others. I've found that doing a spli...
Running is a gift! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 27.06.2025 0:47
Running is a gift. I heard this from another runner I was watching some clips on, and it really hit home for me. It really wasn't that long ago that I was almost gone. My system was shutting down, and I couldn't do anything. I wanted so badly to just be able to walk again, let alone run! Now I'm doing weekend Trifecta Spartan races and running farther and faster than I've done in decades! Get out...
Train your thoughts! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 26.06.2025 0:55
The quality of your thoughts matters. So why do you not put time into training your mind? Your mind can stop your progress in any venture you want to try. Yet so many put zero effort into learning how to use their minds properly. My mental skills are what helped me not only finish my interval run training today but also allowed me to go FASTER by the end! I thought I was done when I was halfway. B...
Mental highlight reel. No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 25.06.2025 0:53
If you can find a way to get through something one time, you can do it again. Doing hard things gives you a mental highlight reel to pull from the next time you find yourself struggling. It gives you that push you need to know you do have the power, strength, or courage. That you are capable and worthy of finishing what you start. It's a powerful tool when you use it. DM me "HIGHLIGHT" to start bu...
Lots of mental practices! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 24.06.2025 0:54
Adding runs into your training is a great way to really work on your mind. I know that doesn't make sense on the surface, lol. Here's what I mean. Set a time or distance, and don't stop until you hit the goal. Maybe you need to go slower or walk at times. Just don't stop for the day until you hit the goal. You will battle your own mind so many times during that run! My thoughts and emotions are al...
Back to the basics! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 23.06.2025 0:54
Experiments are fun, but getting back to the basics when the experiment didn't work is so good 😂 It wasn't all bad, though. I did find myself to be a little more crisp mentally, so I added some carbs back into my meals today, and I felt more balanced. I prepped some rice for the week to go with my meat and got some extra fruit as well. I'll try this out for the week and see how I feel. If it work...
Sugar fasting is not for me 😂! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 22.06.2025 0:59
It's a wrap! I can't do this again, lol. After the first day, I felt decent enough. But about halfway through today, my body was over it. I've felt nauseous all day, and food fills me up but doesn't satisfy me. I'm hungry way more than usual, yet I don't want to eat. Seems like this way of fasting was created by someone who wasn't able to do a water only fast and didn't want to be alone in eating...
I gained a fan 😂. No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 21.06.2025 0:58
The sugar fast is underway! Lol I did have a lot of energy, but I also felt gross for most of the day. It should be good for a couple of days, but this is definitely not a long-term solution. I will say I wasn't hungry for most of the day. I felt a little bloated and full, so my lunch was very light. Dinner was too, lol. I will say this makes me realize I need to add more carbs back into my diet,...
Sugar fasting prep... No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 20.06.2025 0:55
It's time to try this sugar fasting craze. I got my sweets prepped today, and I'm ready to go. In reality, as long as I'm in a calorie deficit, I will burn fat. In theory, not having protein will force my body to burn fat stores to make up for the lack of protein. This is definitely not a great long-term solution, but I do think it'll show you that if you have options to play around with at times...
It's not about being perfect! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 19.06.2025 0:50
When I tell you I'm excited to hear your wins, this is what I mean. This was a big win for my client. In the past, this would have taken him months at best to get back on track. This time, he accepted the reality, acknowledged his role, and implemented an action to get back on track. No beating himself up. No grace was needed. Just accept, acknowledge, and act. It's not about being perfect. It's a...
A weird fat loss tool? No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 18.06.2025 0:53
As I come across new trends and methods, I like to get a few takes and perspectives on them before I try them out myself or tell other people to try them out. I've heard a few takes on this that makes sense to me now, and I'm curious to see how my body responds. I might try both an all fat few days and an all fruit or carb based couple of days. I'll keep you posted on how it goes! Let me know if y...
What a difference two months makes... No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 17.06.2025 0:57
In two months' time, I've made pretty significant progress in my run times. I know my numbers aren't elite level, but I'm also not just training my running skills. I'm still spending more time on my strength and body mastery skills. My run training is intentional, yet also a secondary skill I'm using to be more competitive in the Spartan races. This just goes to show you how quickly you can progre...
Don't over complicate this! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 16.06.2025 0:59
This is just another reminder not to overthink it. Do you want to be stronger? Lift heavy things. Do you want to be more functionally strong? Lift awkward things. Dig a big hole and refill it. Chop wood. Move big rocks. Pick up your kids and play with them. Do push-ups with them on your back. You don't need a gym membership to get your workout unless your goal is to be a body builder. If you work...
Do not fake it until you make it! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 15.06.2025 0:53
I used to say this, too, so my stance has changed over time. When you fake it, you ultimately know you are telling a lie. This means you know deep down you are not in integrity with yourself. Instead, start shifting your identity to be the thing you want. That identity should then guide your actions and behaviors. As you conduct yourself in that manor, evaluate your actions, learn, and implement a...
Life makes sense in reverse... No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 14.06.2025 0:53
Life only makes sense in reverse. That's because we can never know an outcome before it happens. We can plan, prepare, and think things through, but the outcome is never in our control. Things don't always make sense. They are scary. You will be consumed by fear. But that's how you know it's important. I don't know what the future holds or how these changes will end up. But I do know God has a pla...
Testing limits. No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 13.06.2025 0:56
Today was fun. I wanted to test my ability to run at the higher speeds I'm working on with sore legs. I wasn't sure how it would go. I knew my nervous system was in better shape today, so it was worth trying out. Of the 5.5 to 5.6 miles I ran in those 45 minutes, I was able to run 4.5 of them at 7.5mph (8 minute mile pace). This was 36 of the 45 minutes in total. Why risk it? This was a test to se...
One small change... No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 12.06.2025 0:54
One small change to my workout tonight, and man, did it make a difference! Not only were the box squats harder because of the distance change. The mental piece was way harder than I expected. I had to talk myself out of quitting several times. I was cooked after 20, and from 30 on, I had to convince myself to do just one more set of 10 before I decided to quit again. Eventually, I made it to 100.....
Boring tasks are necessary. No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 11.06.2025 0:53
Sanding isn't the most enjoyable part of building things, but it's one of the most important parts to get a good finish. What does that have to do with life? Everything. Anything worth doing will have parts that seem boring or useless, yet they will be vital to your success. The question is, do you figure out how to love that part enough, or at least like it enough? This will either make or break...
Do you find a way or an excuse? No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 10.06.2025 0:57
So... which one is it for you? Do you make every excuse not to get something in? Or do you figure out the best version of progress, no matter how small that is? When you sit around waiting for the perfect moment, or skip the workout because you think it'll be too short, you waist a great opportunity for progress on multiple levels. Every time you find the excuse, you build distrust in yourself. Ev...
Want change? No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 09.06.2025 0:36
Want to guide behaviors around you? Point out the positives more often. Address them and give them some love. People tend to remember the things you say, so when you point out the negatives more often, they do those me because they are top of mind. By pointing out the things you enjoy, they bring those to mind instead and do those more often. No excuses! Kevin Brewer Rise Again From The Struggle
This was brutal! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 08.06.2025 0:52
This one was brutal for sure, lol. I saw an interview with the guy who got me into sandbags this week and wanted to try this out. It sucked! 30 minutes of carrying a sandbag without letting it hit the ground. My breaks were deep squats with the bag resting on my legs so I could give my arms a break. I bear hugged, shoulder carried, alternated... whatever it took to not drop the bag. My legs wanted...
Weekend jet lag... No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 07.06.2025 0:53
When you change your sleep schedule on the weekend, you just wreck your body's rhythm. You've been conditioned to believe the weekends are for staying up late and sleeping in. Yet, that's exactly why you have so many issues early on the week. As soon as your body gets back in sync, you wreck it with the next weekend. Stay consistent on your sleep times, and you'll see the mental benefits quickly....
What's the intent? No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 06.06.2025 0:53
If you infer intent behind someone's words or actions, it's your resounding responsibility to get clarity or be accountable for the results of your actions afterwards. This happens so frequently. You assume intent, then get angry and make a poor decision. When it goes sideways and you find out you were wrong, you're not owed an apology for your wrong feelings. The opposite is true. You OWE an apol...
Check your ego! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 05.06.2025 0:56
I almost messed up my run today by not listening to my system. It's easy to get in the mode that every time you need to do better than last time. But that's not always possible. The better you get, the less you will improve each time, too. Today was one of those days for me. I tried to out work my weakend nervous system, but that wasn't working. Instead, I was forced to stop a few times before jus...
Sub 7 mile today! No excuses! | Kevin Brewer | Rise Again From The Struggle 04.06.2025 0:53
I know, it's not blazing fast for top runners, but it's the fastest mile I've run in decades! I'm extremely happy with the progress I've made in my running times. It didn't take as long as I expected, either. When I switched up my training plan, though, things really started moving quickly for me. This really does apply to everything in life. You can make rapid changes with the right plan and inte...
