The Game - Washington Rookie Mini Camp begins on 10 May. Last year we heard high praise for the top of 2023 draft class, but that didn't translate to the season. Will this year be different?

The Game - NFL Draft Analyst Joe DeLeone joins us to talk Washington Commanders draft. Nine picks in total. A franchise QB that some teams may have had as the best quarterback in the draft. Several day two steals and a bunch of fan favorite picks. There wasn't a slam dunk at left tackle, but you have to feel pretty good about how Adam Peters did in his first Washington Commanders draft.

The Warm Up - Adam Peters has done a fantastic job overhauling a roster that was 4 - 13 last season. One area that could still use an improvement is quite possibly the most important one left after taking your franchise quarterback with the second overall pick.

Jer’Zhan Newton, Mike Sainristil, Ben Sinnott, Brandon Coleman and Luke McCaffrety were Washington’s selections. Stoner had a problem with the Newton pick but understands why Washington could not pass up the value.  Other than Coleman, each of the other picks have a chance to start Day 1.  Will they?

Washington had a chance to draft anyone except Caleb Williams and they chose Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman winning QB from LSU.  Did they make the right chose in choosing him over North Carolina’s Drake Maye or Michigan’s JJ McCarthy? We all fall in love with players during the NFL Draft season. We begin by reading one article and then another and before you know it that's the only player for our team. Far too many fans have become an overly-attached fan with certain prospects. So much so they're going from "In Adam Peters We Trust" to "I'm done with this team if they draft ______!" So how far do we trust the new front office?

As we near the draft things start to get even more crazy. Random accounts start talking about players shopping for houses. News articles on prospective players come out to make any last minute influences. People start hedging their bets or doubling down on their thoughts. Let's sift through the noise and figure out what's going on the day before the NFL Draft.

The current tight end depth chart has Zach Ertz, John Bates and Cole Turner.  Nothing is spectacular so TE may be in play on Day 2 of the NFL draft.  What will Washington look for on Day 2?  A speedy catch-first guy or a block-first player who helps keep their shiny new #2 pick from being sacked. While WR may not be a huge need for the Commanders, they do need a playmaker at #3.  Curtis Samuel has left for the Bills and Dyami Brown or Jamison Crowder currently sit in that third spot. We look at South Carolina WR Xavier Legette as a possible solution for Washington on day 2 of the NFL draft.  Is he a guy who can help this team?
