We live in a very fast paced, individualistic city that's growing at a faster rate than ever before. Over 86,000 people moved to Seattle this past year alone. In a city with so many people, knowing others is a given right? The sad reality is deeper relationships and meaningful relationships are much more rare than common. Why do we pray? How do we pray? And why is it far to easy to forget about prayer in the busyness of our lives? It's so easy to hear the word "fear" and immediately jump to thoughts like scared or terrified. Proverbs talks a ton about the fear of the Lord, but not in a terrifying or scared way, instead, in a reverent, awestruck, loving way. As we wrap up our summer Proverbs series, this is a great place to do it. (-9-04-16)

When we think about what money can provide, we usually go to one of two places, freedom or security. Proverbs has a lot to say about this topic but at the bedrock of an appropriate view and understanding of money and wisdom is the idea of generosity. What is a real friend? Are you a real friend? It's alarming when asked, how many people say they have zero "real" friends. It's easy to underestimate the power of real friends in your life and the importance of being a real friend to others but this is something Jesus not only cares about but lived out during His earthly ministry. Emotions, we all have them. And these emotions comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Some can get us into a lot of trouble if run wild, while others can be used to show love and care. The average American speaks 700 times a day. We speak far more than we do anything else in our day to day lives, but how much do we really think about the words that role off of our tongue?
