Sometimes we think of repentance as a punishment when really it's the way of freedom for sinful people before a holy, perfect God. What does true repentance look like? In Psalm 51 we get a raw, honest answer from David and a window into the gospel. (07-02-17)

At the heart of generosity is grace. Our generosity stems from the grace that God has shown us through the most generous gift of all; Jesus. When this grace saturates our heart, it produces generosity throughout our life.

True freedom comes with real responsibility. As Paul wraps up his letter to the Galatians he gives them some very clear and very practical instructions on how to re-build their foundation through relationships with one another. Do you have broken relationships, strained relationships, unhealthy relationships that need to be re-built? What does this look like in the context of grace? (06-04-17)

Everyday there's a constant battle between our flesh and being led by the Spirit for every Christian. Although we've been freed through Christ, we still fight against sin and our own fleshly desires. In this section, Paul draws a clear contrast between being led by the Spirit and giving into the flesh. (05-28-17)

Are you living in reality? This is a pretty important question and how you answer it or even more importantly, live in or out of it, has real consequences. Some of the consequences might be small, but some are very big and weighty. If Christ has set you free, are you living free? (05-21-17)

The opportunity and ability to pursue and acquire what you desire most without constraint or limitation. This or something similar would probably be the definition you would get from a lot of people in a lot of places, but what if this isn't true freedom? What if we've been operating from a definition that could actually enslave us more than set us free? Here, from a unique example, Paul gives us...

Saying difficult things isn't something we look forward to; especially when its to people we love. But, saying difficult things that are true is one of the very signs of real, devoted, caring love; no matter the cost. In this passage, Paul's concern for a people he loves won't allow him to stay silent as he sees them slipping back into some really dangerous beliefs. (04-30-17)

There are a lot of voices that try to tell us who we are, wether we do or don't measure up, our true identity. In reality, for those who accept the grace of Jesus by faith, there's only one voice that speaks absolute truth when it comes to who you now that you've been adopted and that's God the Father. Here's what he has to say about you. (04-23-17)

We believe that Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, and went to the cross bearing the full weight of our sins and suffering a real death. We also believe that death could not hold Him, and that He overcame sin, death, and the grave. We have hope because we don't worship a dead man. Our King is risen! (04-16-17)

We struggle to depend on others. We live in a society that praises independence and going it alone. But in Galatians 3, Paul makes it incredibly clear that when it comes to entering the family of God as sons and daughters, you can't work your way in; it's only through faith. Not only that, because of God's promise you also never need to worry about being kicked out, forgotten or abandon. (04-09-17...

Promises are important, especially when they come directly from God. Paul has made it really clear that "The Law" condemns us when we try to follow it to earn a relationship with God. Following the law is simply not enough to save and never would be. So where's our hope? Faith in Jesus; the only one able to provide the promise of new life. (04-02-17)

It's easy to lose our way. It's easy to start on one path and find ourself on another. It's easy to question, second guess, or just get lost along the way. And what need is to be reminded of true north and re-centered on what's true. In the first part of Galatians 3, Paul pleads from three angles with the church to remember the true gospel, a gospel of faith. (03-26-17)

In this passage Paul goes to Peter face to face to offer correction. This might seem extreme, but not when it comes to something as important as the gospel. Faith alone in Jesus is our justification. Not our works, not our best day, not our best attempt. Unless we understand this, freedom will be choked out by fear and grace is quickly forgotten. (03-19-17)

Is your life unified with the message and the mission of the gospel? The apostle Paul spent the first chapter of Galatians defending the gospel and his authority, no he turns to defending the unity of the gospel among him and the other apostles. That when it comes down to it, there aren't multiple message and multiple missions, but one gospel alone with massive implications; the gospel of Jesus. (...

Jesus can take anyone from anywhere with any past and completely change their life. This is the power of the TRUE gospel of Jesus. That's exactly what we see in this passage and the life of Paul the apostle. Once a murderer or Christians, now he's fighting to get the good news of the gospel out to the people. (03-05-17)

Last week we looked at how God gave good work prior to the curse, but how with the curse of sin, our view on work can become really distorted. This week we focus on the effect of the gospel in our work and through our work. (02-19-17)

It's easy to buy into the idea that what we do for a living doesn't really matter that much to God, but that's absolutely not true. Your work matters greatly to God for many reasons. Today we open up the topic by looking at the good work that was given, cursed, and redeemed through Jesus. (02-12-17)

What is the heart of God? What does God care about? Throughout the book of Jonah we've seen the heart of a rogue prophet who only seems to care about himself and we've seen the heart of a gracious God who not only cares about Jonah but cares about EVERYONE, including the foreign, gentile people of Nineveh. People, people are on the heart of God and should be on the heart of His church. (02-05-17)

Is God really able and wiling to save anyone who will turn to Him? In Jonah chapter 3 we get a clear answer: YES! The people of Nineveh who had rebelled and rebelled and rebelled against God in horrific ways turn from their evil, turn to God, and God does something amazing. He saves them and shows this incredible grace! No one is too far from this grace. (01-29-17)

As we see here in this chapter of Jonah, it's possible to have great faith and appreciation toward God and still misunderstand grace. This is something we wrestle with all the time, either believing the lie that somehow we deserve or can earn grace or that we're outrun God's grace. Jonah is still in process just like us, but even so, God show's incredible mercy. (01-22-17)

Have you ever run from God? Are you running from Him now? As we open up Jonah we find a rogue prophet who is willing to go anywhere and pay anything to avoid what God is asking Him to do and at the same time we see a powerful, completely in control, just, but incredibly gracious and loving God.
