The discussion of trials and our faith continues on from the opening verses. The reason is clear: all Christians will face hardship. Jesus intends for the hardships we faith to be opportunities for us to prove our faith. The passage we look at today is one of great challenge to our perspective of trials and the living out of our beliefs.

Samson is known as the strongest man to ever live. His feats of strength are miraculous and were used by God, but Sa son also lived a very dysfunctional spiritual life. We will examine his spiritual work and how it should cause us to evaluate our own lives.

Life is hard and trials come and trials go. In the opening section of James believers are warned to prepare themselves for difficulties. But, we do not prepare without hope. James encourages us to embrace hardships as opportunities to exemplify Christ. We are called to respond as patient Christians who serve a great Master.

This is an unusual passage of Scripture and somewhat controversial. We will study out what God is doing in Israel and how He uses a man from that comes from a broken home, who is actually expelled by his own family. Jephthah stands out as a unique man in that he is diligent and stands strong in the face of opposition. He will keep his word no matter the personal cost.

There is a lot of noise in this world. Our society is filled with advertisements, appeals, and busyness. There is seldom time for peace and calm. Even our minds are filled with commotion. These noise of our lives often drowns out the voice of the Lord. This message will challenge us to recognize the static in our life that is deafening the promptings of the Lord and renew our minds with the peace...

This sermon will cover the second half of the story of Ruth. It culminates in a beautiful display of the redemption through Boaz, which pictures the perfect redemption of Jesus Christ through and His redemption of mankind. The sermon will also challenge us concerning our service for the Lord.

The principle of sowing and reaping is known to most people. It has even become a bit of a cliche at times. However, this passage challenges us to place this principle in the context of where God intends it: people. Are we investing in people the way God has asked us too, or are people too difficult and messy?

The story of Ruth is an incredible picture of grace in the middle of tumultuous times. The account takes place during the time of the judges and we find two women in deep peril and need. One man appears on the scene to provide and protect. His character and account is a beautiful foreshadowing of grace of Jesus Christ.
