Poems & Whiskey

Arts EN ↓ 94 episodes

Poems & Whiskey is the project of Michael C. It's a weird and rambly talk show that's usually pretty funny. Enough that the Spotify powers that be labeled this show 'comedy'. Now whether that means I'm funny or that I'm a joke, well... In this thing, I talk to all sorts of creative types across all levels of skill and exposure. We sit and chat about what the hell we think we're doing and have drink (or two). Pull up a chair and join us, friend. Cheers y'all! Updates 2 times a month or so on Wednesdays. Hosted on Acast. Smile in the Dark 04.06.2026

the pleasures of the damned by charles bukowski the pleasures of the damned are limited to brief moments of happiness: like the eyes in the look of a dog, like a square of wax, like a fire taking the city hall, the county, the continent, like fire taking the hair of maidens and monsters; and hawks buzzing in peach trees, the sea running between their claws, Time drunk and damp, everything burning,...

Searching for a Trail 21.05.2026

Surprised By Evening by Robert Bly There is unknown dust that is near us Waves breaking on shores just over the hill Trees full of birds that we have never seen Nets drawn with dark fish. The evening arrives; we look up and it is there It has come through the nets of the stars Through the tissues of the grass Walking quietly over the asylums of the waters. The day shall never end we think: We have...

To Reach You 09.04.2026

My house says to me, “Do not leave me, for here dwells your past.” And the road says to me, “Come and follow me, for I am your future.” And I say to both my house and the road, “I have no past, nor have I a future. If I stay here, there is a going in my staying; and if I go there is a staying in my going. Only love and death change all things.” -- Kahlil Gibran from Sand and Foam Marcus Benjamin R...

Love's the Only Thing 26.03.2026

Demeter’s Prayer to Hades "This alone is what I wish for you: knowledge. / To understand each desire has an edge, / to know we are responsible for the lives / we change. No faith comes without cost, / no one believes without dying. / Now for the first time I see clearly the trail you planted, / what ground opened to waste, / though you dreamed a wealth / of flowers. / There are no curses—only mirr...

Howl into the Light 02.10.2025

I don't really like traditional summaries, clearly. lol Coming to the close of s3 is something alright. Joaquin Fernandez and I do the art talk, as per. We've got; art as expression of free will, play as an intentional practice, ease not equating legitimacy, and of course, the death of happily ever after. You know, for fun! So it goes! We are remade when we create and again in witness, doors openi...

To Find the Way 24.07.2025

So you get to your goal...and then what? What makes the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves more than a re-enactment? Where we put our attention there we are, with whatever worth we give it. Covet all the Waning Hours 12.06.2025

To be witnessed, revealed, if even only to ourselves is why we're all muddling around in this mess. Art is to be seen, for the circuit to complete it requires engagement. Including laughter. Make the Best of this Test 29.05.2025

To have something better, we have to dream it first. Whatever form it takes, you are allowed to create for yourself, for the joy and discovery it brings.
