Podcasting in Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club

It's time to get to know some of the new faces that are coming to do podcast. A lot of the members at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club come almost everyday. Now that we are getting ready for summer camp a few new faces are popping up. I just want to get to know a little more about them.

I can't believe the story about to here. I hope its not true. I want to make everyone know that know that guns are not toys. What you see in the movies and in video games are not how guns should be used. I am trying to get in our members minds and see how they think about guns and our laws.

This has been on my mind for a few days. It has been a very sad few days. Let me start out by saying that all the families are in our thoughts and prayers. I wanted to know first if our members knew anything about current events. I wanted to know if this has effected them i any way and how they are dealing with it at school and at home.

Drum roll please........ I know they not going to hurt my feelings. I ask our older members who is your favorite staff member and why. Listen carefully to what they say. 

This is a very hard subject to talk about. I believe these people have feelings to and should be well too. With that being said we have seen people asking for money by the check cashing place, in front of the supermarket or even on the high way. I wonder how these members feel about this act and how would they react if someone asked them for money. 

I always want to know what our members would rather be a hero or a villain. These are our young members and its always cute how the mind of a 5 year old thinks. I always have fun with them and this a good podcast of what they think.

The school year is ending and the clubhouse is getting ready to change from after school to summer camp. It is a big change for us all, we go from spending 3 hours a day with our members to over 10 hours a day. Lets talk about how different summer camp is from after school.

Lets talk about nutrition. We will be opening up a start of the art kitchen soon at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. In the mean time we are starting to teach the members the importance of nutrition. The members will be learning about different foods, how to make them and why we should start eating healthy. We can all learn from each other and make changes in our lives.

It's just the guys and we are talking about haircut, line ups, and typical Barbershop talk with our members. You know I have to crack a few jokes.

It's been a tuff 2 years for us all.  We learned how to basically home school our children. We learned how to Google Classroom and Zoom call our teachers and friends. This last year we basically went back to normal and are almost finished with school year. Let's get the members talking about how it went so far this year for them.

Spring is here and the summer is around the corner. It's time to go to the parks and zoo. Let's have a open conversation with our clubhouse members and talk about Mother Nature, the out doors and how important it is in our lives.

We all have a story, someone, or something in our lives that made us stronger. Today we explore these stories and the people that have made us the person we strive to be. It's great to have our members share personal stories that happened to them. Let's all learn from these events.

I wish they can all come to summer camp at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club but some have other plans. Family vacations are wonderful and great for building relationships and memories. As for Mr. Ish I will be here for a new season of the podcast and summer camp. See you then.

I couldn't believe what I just heard. Let's start a food drive for families in need in our clubhouse. I love to hear members wanting to give back to others. It makes me very proud to be part of their journey. Lets talk about it and lets also get it done.

Todays podcast is a reflection of ourselves. Sometime we have to take a look at ourselves and see the good and the bad in us. We are going to have a very open talk on things we see that we do and how we can improve. No one is perfect and we can always be better to each other.

Our members are learning about the 7 Wonders of The World and where eager to come do a podcast about what they learned. I thought I knew something about this topic and I was proven wrong in the first minute. The members had a lot of useful information and wanted to share it with everyone. 

Welcome to our new podcast about snitching. I have a group of Tween boys and they came in to the studio and where ready to talk. I don't know what happened before this but they even hand picked the podcast panel. I chime in and give them some of Ish's Knowledge. Let's talk about it.

I like it when our member think about the future. I hope that these dreams can come true for all of them. It is important not only to say it out loud but also to find ways to start heading in that direction.  

Today we have another informative podcast from Street Smarts. We talk about the very sensitive issue improper touching of another person. When ever anyone feels like this happened to them please tell a parent, teacher, or anyone you trust.

We have another great episode of Street Smarts and this group does not shy away from the hard topics. In this episode they learn from a social experiment about racism that they watched on video. This is what they learned and we talk about it. 

We want to yell out from the roof tops HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! Thank you to all the women in our lives that help us navigate this world. Our club members and our staff want to thank you for all that you do.

It's been a very hard two weeks in my household. A lot of emotions and many people coming over to my house. We lost our beloved Jaji Stanley. My girls came to work with me and wanted to do a podcast about what was on their minds and this is it. We honor and love Stanley and thank everyone who reached out or came to see him. That was exactly what he wanted.

I know I wrote it all in caps but they really meant it. I'm not one to shy away from this so lets do a podcast about why you hate podcasting I'm not scared. I always ask "What's On Your Mind", I guess the members have spoken. I let them speak but I have the last word. I even gave them a new logo.

Its's alway great to get into the young minds of the people who work at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. As an Intern or Staff something made you walk in these doors and someone liked you in an interview to give you the job. Working with children can be challenging but it can also be very rewarding.
