Today on the 5: I was looking through the magnificent Criterion Channel film selections and saw one titled Gypsy 83 . I'm not typically much of a "coming of age" film person, but this looked different and since it's Pride month, I figured why not see how it is. Turns out, it's pretty good!

Is it possible we'll see demand for a video focused version of something we're already pretty familiar with: the ad blocker.

Today on the 5: About 6 months back I picked up the AirFly Pro 2 , a product that is generally used by travelers but had one particular feature that made it appealing to me. The AP2 is typically used as a way to send audio to 2 Bluetooth devices at once, but I use it in the reverse and it's fantastic!

Today on the 5: OnePlus recently announced they will be  retiring the Alert Slider that has been a hallmark of their phones for over a decade. The new button has the now expected "AI first" angle, which in my initial reading was a negative. After taking the time to look into it more cloesly, I think this change might be a great update.

Today on the 5: After seeing the cost breakdowns Google unveiled on their AI offerings last week, many people have been somewhat stunned by the pricing. They shouldn't be, because I don't think many ordinary users are going to be ponying up much money for these tools.

Today on the 5: For our commentary film this week, Lando and I decided to watch a 1985 film titled Crimewave . I last saw this movie over 25 years ago and didn't remember much of it. Now that I've rewatched it, it's pretty clear why I forgot a lot of it.

Today on the 5: Inevitably, Adobe has joined the ranks of compaånies raising prices with the addition of AI features as a the justification for it . That part of their annoucnement was completey predictable, but another bit of detail within it surprised me.

Today on rthe 5: FBC Firebreak is due out in just about a month, which means a lot of early preview pieces have appeared. I've read quite a few of them now, and most are pretty positive about the game. Underneath these warm opinions, there is one potential pitfall I really hope the game avoids.

Today on the 5: I randomly checked on how the Frasier reboot was going, and apparently the answer is not that well . There are lots of opinions on why, but in my opinion the most prominent theories have it backward and point to my biggest issue with reboots and revivals.

Today on the 5: After my 5 on Google's pointless "Apple copied us!" ad , I started wondering what would make a person change what phone OS they use right now. After seeing the image used on this 9to5MAC article , I feel like product design might be the last thing that could work.

Today on the 5: As part of an upcoming episode of Len Kabasinski's Forgotten Movie Den series, I watched a film from 1988 titled Nightmare At Noon . Apart from an ending that fumbles the energy of the movie just slightly, this one is an absolute blast of a good time!

Today on the 5: On top of increasing game prices and moving games towards digital downloads , Nintendo has recently announced they will have the capability to brick consoles violating their EULA policies . Right now those policies seem aimed at preventing piracy, which is at least defensible. The problem is, this also requires you to trust the company not to change those policies in the future to...

Today on the 5: The book selection for the next TWiT book club event is  The Word For World Is Forest by a giant of science fiction, Ursula K. Le Guin. I recrently finished reading the book in prep for that event, and it was pretty good!

Today on the 5: Over the weekend I watched a movie that looked like it couldn't possibly be any good. It's titled Desperate Teenage Lovedolls , and it was every bit as awful as I expected. Outside of pure comedy value, it does have one potentially redeeming aspect.

Today on the 5: 9to5Mac ran a piece aimed at a recent Google Pixel ad. The main criticism was about the lack of humor and bluntness of the ad . While those complaints are definitely true that's not the biggest issue with the spot.

Today on the 5: I've talked more than a few times about my reluctance to use all-on-one devices, and I've also done a few 5s about leaving Roku behind years ago. Nothing has changed in respect to those decisions, but a recent story about Roku TVs breaking after a bad update requires a repeat warning for listeners!

Today on the 5: I haven't watched the 1984 film Streets Of Fire since the early days of the show before we really did movie reviews. Lando had never seen it, so we watch it as our movie selection for the Friday show. Streets Of Fire is a fun film, but it has one major flaw that holds it back from being as good as it could have been.
