Widow's Bay Season 1 Review 09.07.2026

Today on the 5: My wife and I watched the first season of the AppleTV series Widow's Bay , which has been fairly well reviewed all over the place. While I don't agree with the frequent description of the show as a comedy, it's nontheless an excellent Stephen King style horror series.

Eroding Ownership 08.07.2026

Today on the 5: You've likely seen a fair bit of coverage on the news that Sony is planning to cease releasing physical versions of games starting in 2028 . It's pretty clear that gamers and game preservationists care about it , but I'd argue everyone who values ownership should care too.

Murder In Blue Light Retro Review 07.07.2026

Today on the 5: For our first communal movie this week, we watched 1992's Murder In Blue Light . We meant to watch this a while ago, but because of a rip error on my fault we only just got around to it. It's a perfectly entertaining giallo entry, doing nothing groundbreaking while still providing eveeything a fan of this genre would want.

Paul Thurrott 06.07.2026

This week I'm joined by guest Paul Thurrott as we talk about technology ,  travel, and how pros and cons are at the core of how we should move through the world. Show music by  OGRE .  Support the show!

The Supergirl Paradox 02.07.2026

Today on the 5: Supergirl is out, and between the critical reviews and early box office performance , it doesn't look like the success many were hoping it would be. Strangely, the tone of many reviews and that lack of blockbuster success has me more interested in the movie than I already was.

Mr. K Review 01.07.2026

Today on the 5: After watching the fantastic Nirvana , we decided to go with something a lot different with 2025's Mr. K . What we experienced was a unique and visually mesmerizing surrealist story that will be best suited to those who are ok with not having everything explained.

Don't Accept It! 30.06.2026

Today on the 5: The pricing for GTA VI has been released, as well as the confirmation that no physical version of the game will be available at launch. Some video game industry analysts are saying that this decision won't hurt sales and that players will just roll over and accept it . Maybe people should consider not accepting it and therefore make that decision impact sales!

Nirvana (1997) Retro Review 29.06.2026

Today on rhe 5: We're not doing a theme for July's film selections, but we started out with a total unknown with 1997's Nirvana . Neither of us had heard of this one, so we were just hoping it would at least be a charming 90s science fiction romp. Instead, we were both blown away by one of the best cyberpunk films we'd seen in a long while.

The OJ Simpsons Sports Cartoon 26.06.2026

This week we're talking about  Arcee ,  Bad Sisters , Protector , Serial Experiments Lain , Godzilla, Mothra, And King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack , and Destroy All Monsters . Monster Mashing 25.06.2026

Today on the 5: To finish out "Kai-June", we went with a pair of creature packed Godzilla classics with Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla, Mothra And King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack . Both movies are a lot of fun and jammed with the magic that only vintage Godzilla films can deliver, but one of the movies delivered something we don't usually see.

The Inevitable Path 23.06.2026

Today nn the 5: Barring any unlikely merger blocks, Roku is likely to be taken over by Fox Corporation . It's a sad but entirely predictable end for a company that was a trailblazer in the early days of streaming boxes.

Protector (2025) Review 22.06.2026

Today on the 5: As a dihard Milla Jovovich fan, I felt it was my civic responsiblity to watch one of her newer releases, a 2025 film titled Protector . Many negative reviews fixate on the fact that it's largely a blatant copy of Taken , and as an Italian ripoff film connoisseur I had no issue with that. What I couldn't overlook was how bad the film was from a technical standpoint.

Nobody Knows What IG-72 Is Doing! 19.06.2026

It's Disruptive Alright! 18.06.2026

Today on the 5: There's no shortage of coverage right now about computing component shortages and the impacts they're having throughout the technology landscape. One of the areas most under pressure is the video game industry , which was hardly in a great state even before the AI explosion happened.

Forbidden Solitaire Impressions 17.06.2026

Today on the 5: I read an article over on Aftermath covering the unexpected success of a game titled Forbidden Solitaire . Based on the premise, the very positive reviews and the cheap price, I picked it up. I've played it for a bit now , and I've been enjoying it immensely.

You're All Alone Book Review 16.06.2026

Today on the 5: Thanks to a YouTube channel titled Liminal Spaces , I read You're All Alone by Fritz Leiber . It's a wonderful novella that feels a lot like a Philip K. Dick story, except without the overwhelming doom and paranoia!

Q The Winged Serpent Retro Review 15.06.2026

Today on the 5: For week 3 of "Kai-June", Lando and I watched the 1982 film Q The Winged Serpent . Much like 2016's Colossal, this movie is attempting to have at least 3 different genres happening at once, and it's just barely the monster movie the film artwork would have you believe. Unlike 2016's Colossal, this movie is very good.

Headless Communication 12.06.2026

This week we're talking about  Sauron ,  Wolverine ,  This Is How The World Ends ,  The Host (2006) , and Colossal . Show music by  HeartBeatHero  and  OGRE .  Support the show! Get up to 2 months free podcasting service with our Libsyn code  OZONE

A Timeless Property 11.06.2026

Today on the 5: The most recent Red Letter Media episode is covering the recently released Masters Of The Universe movie. Before talking about the film itself, the hosts discuss whether the movie was timed correctly to capitalize on MOTU nostalgia. I wonder if He-Man as a property really requires nostlagia or name recognition to perform well.

The First Hurdle 10.06.2026

Today on the 5: Apple made a whole avalanche of announcements during the keynote of this year's WWDC conference, almost all revolving around AI and Siri. They showed off a lot of fancy things, but I've got a very simple baseline test for whether any of this matters to me.

Colossal (2016) Review 09.06.2026

Today on the 5: We followed up our underwhelming experience with The Host by watching 2016's Colossal .  Neither of us knew anything about this one, so we weren't sure what to expect. What we got was a movie that wasn't really about giant monsters, and also was so bad we didn't really finish it.

The Host (2006) Review 08.06.2026

Today on the 5: As part of "Kai-June", Lando and I watched the 2066 Korean film The Host . The movie has one of the more impressive opening segments you could hope for in a monster movie, but unfortunately the rest of the film never quite returned to that level of quality.

Aloof Flying Lizards 05.06.2026
