As the nation braced itself for the start of the Reagan Era, the Prince of Motown nearly topped the charts with this somewhat threatening slow jam. This week, Andrew and Dan discuss late 70s aesthetics and the benefits of being Aretha Franklin's neighbor. Enjoy!

In 2013, Mr. Corny himself, J-Timbs, returned to the charts with a song about looking at your own reflection and thinking "Hey, that looks nice." Unfortunately, he failed to reach the top spot and had to settle for the deuce. But we're talking about him anyway because sometimes we do that!

Halloween came early this year so Andrew and Dan are being visited by a quintet of spooky bone-fellows from Ohio who have a sweet little song about the very Grim Reaper. Will it shake us to our very core? Will it clank our very chains? Will Dan admit he doesn't know shit about music? Yes probably!

We're going way way back this week to the WWII era of the Billboard charts because our old pal James Dorsey has some more toot-toot-tooting to share with us. This time around, it's another song from a movie no one has ever heard of. We used to be a country damnit!

In their bleary hangover following the swinging sixties, America decided what they really wanted to hear was a nonsense song written for children that is screamed at top volume. Luckily, Three Dog Night was more than happy to oblige!

Some might say the love between a man and a mannequin is too complex and taboo to be accurately captured in song. But those people would be dead wrong. This week, Andrew and Dan discuss Oscars mainstay Diane Warren's collaboration with 1980s perm disaster Starship for the hit film Mannequin.
