Nope. I'm Scared

The Kraken has been legend for hundreds of years, but where did it start? We're diving deep (literally) into the ocean as we uncover the legend and the likely truth behind it. It's a bit of a rambly episode as we gear up for our big case next week so enjoy the light-hearted spooks because the next few ones O.o Instagram/Twitter: nope im scared Email: nopeimscaredpodcast@gmail.com

Hello! We're back! So sorry, so sorry. We've had a lot going on but the big thing is Alexa moved. Wow, yay, Oregon! So what's the first thing you do when you move somewhere? Look at the scary cryptids in the state. Exactly! We thought the same, because who wouldn't want to terrify themselves right upon their arrival with odd things that live in the woods and.....well, you'll see. Happy to be back,...

In the cold and foggy night of December 15, 1900 a ship noted that the lighthouse was not lit, which is strange already, but when investigators went to see what had happened to the men working there, they found that all of them had simply vanished. Rumors and legends have twisted the reality of what happened to those men but the answer is that we will just never know. We throw some crazy theories...

When a series of unsettling Facebook posts send neighbors to the home of DeeDee Blanchard and her seriously ill and wheelchair-bound daughter, police find a crime scene and a found Gypsy, who is completely capable of walking and not sick in the slightest. It's clear that this case is not all it's cracked up to be. We bring on a professional guest, social worker Ashley Allen, to discuss matters in...

Happy Halloween our spooky babes! It is Samhain and we're doing all of our witchy, ghosty goodness but we have left to you some spooky, scary, stories. Sorry about the late posting but we've had a lot going on with moving and work. Things should sort themselves out and episodes should come back normally, if not just a lot of pre-recorded episodes. Love you! Be safe out there and have a spooky day!

Do you remember that movie about the scarecrow that was actually a weird bat-man? It has Justin Long in it. Yeah! Jeepers Creepers! Well there is maybe a true crime story behind it that inspired the writer/director to make the film (though he never said so). Its actually super creepy and very, very fucked up and definitely not happy. I mean it is a scary movie so I'm sure you were probably expecti...

Ah, yes, look at this distinguished gentleman. Yessss. Look at how he is standing in my doorway making me feel uncomfortable. This week we're talking about the Hat Man and how no one is super sure what he is or what seeing him means. Is he a sleep paralysis demon? Is he a death omen? Is he just a creepy old guy in a bowler hat? Don't know, don't want to. We tell stories and Alexa thinks maybe she'...

Oh yeah, you know we just keep finding stuff that terrifies us in the woods. This is also episode 60! So proud of us #welovetoseeit Did you know that there are supposedly random staircases that appear in the woods all over the world? No? Well if you'll just let us sit right here-hey bestie, they're out there, oh and no one knows why or how. Just a little fearsome mystery for your #terrifiedtuesday...

Please excuse our long news briefing at the beginning, but A LOT of news happened this week! We're going to give you all the basic overview of what's been going on and hopefully will do cases on these once they are more settled (fingers crossed). We'll continue to update you but yeah, shit's cray. In other bits we're talking about the creepiest man of maybe all the creepy men. Karl Von Cosel is DI...

In the center of the French Quarter down in New Orleans sits a convent kept behind a wall with a legend centuries old. In the late 17oos a group of girls stepped off the boat from France into the streets of this wonderful city. With them came rumors, mystery, and curiosity which is still spoken about everyday on a haunted city tour. Is it true? Is it legend? We want to believe. Either way, I don't...

To honor the start or spooky season we're providing (why though) some more games to play with ghosts because there are apparently a ton of them? Today, dear ghosties, we are talking about The Picture Game, The Fortune Game, and the Shoebox Telephone. Do not play these game, they do not seem worth it. But if you do (o.o) peep the email below and send us your story times. Game Rules: Picture Game- h...

1833- A boy dies in mystery and speculation after being found wondering the streets of Germany only four years before. Where did this boy come from? What is this dungeon dwelling he says he was kept in all his life? How did he learn to speak, read, and write so fast? What, or whom, killed him? We'll take a swing at it but the fate of this boy who cried wolf will never really be known. Instagram: n...

The Texarkana twin cities sit on even sides of the Texas and Arkansas state line. A relatively quiet town in 1946 found itself the center of brutal and mysterious attacks and murders that to this day are not a bulletproof case closed deal. We're going to dive into the horrific events and the elusive murderer that drove this city mad and made them fear the sinking sun. Watch the movie inspired by t...

The Queen Mary is a Long Beach landmark now, but she had a life before she got to the Southern California shores. I dive into the history and legend surround this grand cruise line ship from nearly a hundred years ago. In that time she's wracked up some ghost and haunted stories to go along with it. We're ready for fall and Halloween but tried to make it summer still for you our lovely ghouls.

Well, it's STILL summer so we're taking this week easy and reading to you dear ghosts and ghouls stories that validate why we do not go camping in the woods. We jumped right to reddit to pull some stories from campers and hikers that just give us the willies. Nope, we're good. Stay safe out there and we'll provide the campfire stories.

I'm sure we've talked about how Ella is scared of the ocean before but we're going in and doing our own unsolved mystery in the form of Ella's worst nightmare: Open Water/ being stranded at sea. We are talking about the tragic disappearance of Tom and Eileen Lonergan who were abandoned by their boat in the ocean and never seen again. Water the movie based on this story: Open Water (2003) Youtube v...

In keeping with our anniversary month special we have dedicated an episode each that scares the other person. Up first is Alexa. She does not like woods or forests or lakes at all and so this was actually suggested by her because she knew it would be not fun for her. Ella is serving up both lore and true crime all wrapped up into this delightful forest from hell. Great! instagram: nope_im_scared e...

It's our anniversary!!!! Wooo! Yeah! Thank you for celebrating with us and for that we wanted to give something of ourselves, but just could not do another sad case right after Pulse. So we went spooky instead. Turns out our hometown is super haunted and we only sorta knew about it. We're sending you to 3 places plus another buried within one of the others and giving you the full tour. We got ghos...

So this is obviously not a fun episode but it was super important for Ella to talk about given that it is Pride month and that includes her. We take it all very seriously and Alexa breaks down on this one. We hope that you all know how much we support all our LGBTQIA+ babes and love you all very much. This hurts us deeply and this episode is only to cover the events so that it doesn't get forgotte...

Part 2! Part 2! We're wrapping it all up now and if you thought the last episode was nutzo, then strap in. Because here we go. We got violence, we got biowarfare, we got broken silences, we got pettiness. All the good stuff (also Alexa is sorry that she is incapable of making something just one part.) Thanks byeeeeee! Watch the documentary: Wild Wild Country on Netflix Instagram: nope_im_scared Em...

Welcome to Rajneeshparum! This is definitely just a new age religion and not at all a cult. (wink, wink). Is anyone surprised that Alexa got too much information and had to make a spontaneous part 2? No? Yeah, us either. Oops. We're talking about that teachings and start of this religion of sorts and the man at the center of it all. Then we're crossing the Atlantic to see how things go in America....

Hello! We're back on Tuesdays! Sorry for all the everywhere stuff, school y'know? But now that both of us are donezo with school we're going back to our original Terrified Tuesday's schedule to give us the time to research, record, and upload. This week Ella looked into the legend of the Goatman. Who is he really? Where did it all start? We have some various origin stories as well as some stories...

Let's say this right away: THIS IS NOT REAL! We just wanted to get into some creepy pastas we'd heard growing up and this was the one that stuck out to Ella. IT IS COMPLETELY FAKE. We'd hate people to lose sleep at night thinking this is true (like kids our age did for sure). Again, we love science and Alexa is a writer so she's got some unraveling skills to figure out where this writer may have c...

Sorry! Sorry! I know we promised it would be out sooner and it's not. Well we finally got to it. There has been a number of things going on with us and school and jobs and, you know, life. Stuff is wrapping up so things will get regular again and we have some big cases coming. For now enjoy Sallie House part 2. It's horrifying and we can't wait to here what you all think! Instagram: nope_im_scared...

This house has terrified us from the moment we learned about it. We dive into what really happened to Debra and Tony Pickman during the time they lived in that house and what they think was going on. Everything we use is what Debra presented in her own book and we wanted to focus on just what their experience was.
