Having forded the deadly Lake Shadowgrange and defeated its master, the Misfortunates are perilously close to the key that will unlock Eve's prison; and free Anna's sister. Carina makes some more friends, Butler witnesses an eye-popping experience, and Anna takes a shot in the dark.

The Misfortunates battle Seeungeheuer, the "owner of the lake."  Alaric gets to the heart of the problem, Butler performs a miracle, Anna shoots her shot.
