There is only one blue grape hyacinth blooming in the Ormond Gardens this year. I am grateful it is there to provide a balance to other colors. An act of kindness does not have to be large to have a big impact. The tiny white bluets at the Center caught my attention recently. Soon they will disappear, and larger flowers will take over. Most people love the sound of gently flowing water, whether in a water fountain or a mountain stream. The little brook that passes by my window has many mini waterfalls that give me a sense of peace. I am always looking for images on the bark of trees and other places in nature and in life itself, such as heart signs and numbers. Positive images help confirm for me that I am being watched over by something that is there to guide me on my Soul’s path. There is not much left of the old tree, part of which still stands in the forest, only a shell from what it was. I wonder about the stories it could tell, knowing they will stay silent forever. One of the birdhouses in the Lupine Field is now occupied. We can see a swallow poking its head out the hole to let other birds know that the house is not available. We often fill our minds with negative thoughts that occupy our full attention. The transition from spring to summer is now happening so quickly that it is literally taking place right before my eyes. If my mind was focused on stress, I could miss what Nature is doing. When I went to the Center on the first day of May, I found a basket full of goodies waiting for me outside the door, and right nearby was a beautiful bouquet of May flowers from Nature. I think most of us either have or perhaps carry a small, polished stone created by a tumbling machine. Nature has them on the coast where the ocean waves meeting the shore cause rocks to tumble as the water recedes. The first day of May, despite the cold April, lupines are right on schedule for their incredible show of color in June. In life it is easy to feel we are not on schedule with the positive life changes that we intended. I not only have several favorite benches on the mountainside, but in most every place I go, especially the oceanside, I can drift away with the breeze and the smells. THE DAFFODIL PHASE. Finally, the daffodils and jonquils are in full bloom, and they are like little patches of sun throughout the yard. The ledge on the southern side of the Mountain has a drop-off that goes straight down for 50 to 75 feet. Long before we became stewards of the land someone created a small stone table on a high place. I don’t know rather it is 200 years old or a 1000 or why it was created. Loggers knocked it off years ago. When we create things, our positive intentions may be misinterpreted by others. A perfect picture frame for a work of art can really enhance the artist’s intentions. When I take a photo, I often like to have Nature decide on the frame. The White Mountains are experiencing a housing crunch for both people and Nature as the land is constantly being developed. My wife planted some miniature daffodils a couple of years ago that are in bloom, reflecting the sunshine in the sky. I discovered the first mayflowers of the season up on the Mountainside on a lovely spring morning. Now that the snow is just about all gone, I have been rediscovering nature again. One special spot is a bench located just off the trail. It is a place to rest or meditate.
