David's ratification as king by the entire population unifying Israel as a nation.  David gains fame, alliances and wives with Jerusalem becoming the capital city.  

Saul's removed as king by God for not obeying and believing in Him. We long to be as mature as the Psalmist's in faith and words of praise in all times.  Jesus is taken captive at the admission of “I Am He” and they all fell back to the ground at the power of his words yet He gave himself over freely to be taken.

This is the beginning to the end of Israel as a unified nation after Saul's death some chose to follow after Saul's son rather than David, the anointed king of God, and civil war breaks out thereafter.  Jesus is the true vine from the Father and we are grafted in to bear good fruit as the Helper comes to help us.  Our joy comes from keeping His commands.

David deals with a fool and a king, with God in both cases restraining his hand.  Abigail enters the line of the Messiah.

David kills Goliath armed with The Lord!  Johnathan's heart is knit to David and Saul becomes jealous, envious and afraid of David and plans ways to kill him. 

God sees the heart, Saul anoints David and God's spirit comes upon him while the Spirit of God leaves Saul and an evil spirit comes and torments him.  Oil is poured on Jesus preparing him for his burial, Judas betrays Him and the first Lord's supper is taken.  Jesus is betrayed, taken prisoner and abandoned by his disciples while Simon denies even knowing Jesus.  

Saul, rather than following the direction the Lord gave him, takes matters into his own hands as the Philistines were defeated.by Johnathan. God desired Saul’s obedience rather than sacrifice.  

Samuel prepares Israel for his death also the beginning and end of Saul's reign due to his not trusting in the lord and acting on behalf of Samuel the priest.

1 Samuel 10-11 covers the anointing of Saul as King and his first victory in battle as the new King of Israel. In the New new Testament, Matthew 25 covers a number of Parables of Jesus including the 10 virgins and the servants who were given tablets to invest for their Master.  All these Paraboles were given by Jesus to model fo us the kingdom of God and how one comes into His kingdom.

Samuel's sons are no good so the people want a king like everyone else, thus beginning the kingdom of Israel.  God warns what a king will be and has Samuel appoint Saul.
