2 Chronicles 9, Proverbs 30-31 06.08.2022

The Queen of Sheba blesses Solomon with unparalleled gifts, Solomon amasses great wealth and power.  Solomon dies.  Proverb of Agur and Lemuel instructing still on wisdom and righteous living.  

1 Kings 11, Acts 18 05.08.2022

Solomon's wives turn his heart away from God to serving foreign gods' thereby God ordains ten tribes to be torn from Solomon's hand.  Paul is encouraged by God to turn from teaching the Jews and instead teach the gentiles more accurately the new covenant of Christ leading him on more missionary journeys.    

Ecclesiastes 10-12, 1 Kings 10, 2 Thessalonians 3 04.08.2022

King Solomon concludes with, Fear God and Keep His commands.  The Queen of Sheba tests Solomon and marvels at his incomparable wisdom and wealth in every way.  Paul instructs to be diligent, speaking agains false doctrine that was causing men to stop working and lazing about until the Lord's return. 

Ecclesiastes 7-9, 2 Thessalonians 2 03.08.2022

Solomon's perspective of wisdom says we are all going to die, in this life we have an opportunity to morally do right or wrong with the accompanying consequences, in the next you don't.  Paul gives a strong confirmation that the day of the Lord is coming but a false message is passing among the church that it has already come.  

1 Kings 9, 2 Chronicles 8, Proverb 25, 1 Thessalonians 2 30.07.2022

God appears to Solomon a second time having heard his prayers and offers a promise and a warning.  Solomon builds cities and expands, builds a house for his wife away from the holy temple and ark.  Jesus quotes many parts of this proverb.  Who is our hope, Paul asks, us at Christ's second coming. 

Psalms 136, 134, 146-150, 1 Thessalonians 1 29.07.2022

Psalms of Assent and Praise for all God is and all He's created, all glory is God's.  Paul writes to the believers in Thessalonia about their misconceptions of what Jesus said about Himself and His second coming.  

2 Chronicles 6-7, Acts 17 28.07.2022

Solomon dedicates the temple to the Glory of God offering prayers and sacrifices after God's presence fills the temple.  Paul presents the gospel in Thessalonica, Berea and Athens.  He boldly proclaims God is the God over all creation with various responses. 

2 Chronicles 5, Galatians 6 27.07.2022

The Ark was brought into the newly completed temple of God, with God's glory then filling the temple.  Paul ends his letter to the Galatians trying to explain what the grace of God is, how it works and how it works apart from the law.  

2 Chronicles 4, 1 Kings 8, Galatians 5 25.07.2022

The Temple is completed and the Ark is brought in with Solomon praying for God to hear the people of the land when they sin and restore them.  Paul questions who came in among the believers with a false gospel and works righteousness.  Salvation is not something to be earned, but by Grace alone, faith alone. 

1 Kings 7, Galatians 4 24.07.2022

Solomon builds his palace and Hiram of Tyre comes and works in the Temple creating the articles of bronze.  Paul comes with a strong defense against the Judaizers and their application of the law.

2 Chronicles 2-3, Galatians 3 24.07.2022

Hiram King of Tyre recognizes the Great God of Israeli in agreement with Solomon and assists in building the Temple and a palace for Solomon.  Paul explains that salvation came through Abraham by faith and that we are all one in Christ Jesus.

Proverb 24, 1 Kings 5-6, Galatians 2 23.07.2022

Encouragement for the righteous to press on being diligent about the things we're called to do.   Solomon makes and alliance with King Hiram of Tyre and builds The Temple.  Paul rebukes Peter publicly for teaching a false gospel.

Proverbs 20-23 22.07.2022

Avoiding bad business, seeking great wealth for wealths sake, drinking, gluttony, rebellion of spirit, total selfishness on all levels...all the things that draw a man away from godliness and to their ruin.  Righteousness vs Unrighteousness, flesh vs Spirit.  

Proverbs 17-20, Galatians 1 21.07.2022

There is moral life and conduct that bring about either downfall or blessings.  Paul writes the book of Galatians to address false teachers.  This is a book to read when people are getting off track in their faith walk. 

Proverbs 14-16, Acts 16 20.07.2022

Proverbs continue as guides to our lives.  It is pleasing to the Lord those who are humble and strive toward righteousness.  Paul called to Macedonia is immediately under attack and jailed, allowing God's miraculous hand to move.  

Proverbs 11-13 19.07.2022

A continuation of the wise sayings of Solomon, written to be read individually and meditated upon.  

Proverbs 7-10, Acts 15 18.07.2022

Contrasts of the righteous vs the wicked, of the beneficial vs the unprofitable and of the wise vs the fool.  Do what is right before the Lord and prosper.  The Council of Jerusalem meet and agree that salvation is by God's grace alone and not by works, for both the Jew and the Gentile. 

Proverbs 3-6, James 5 18.07.2022

Fathers, teach your young men the rewards of wisdom and the dangers of immorality.  The beginning of wisdom is wisdom.  James is the New Testament book of wisdom.  Don't seek out riches to be rich, learn to live a life with riches. 

Song of Solomon 7-8, Proverbs 1-2, James 4 16.07.2022

Solomon glorifying the union of husband and wife in purity, bound together and sealed in love.  Proverbs of Solomon addressing issues of wisdom, directed toward the young and naive in how to walk in God's ways.  James pronounces for us to walk humbly before the Lord and seek Him before all things.

The blessings of Solomon and his Shulammite bride's marriage with an old Mediterranean view of beauty.  God's ability to tame the tongue where man is unable.

1 Kings 3, James 1 13.07.2022

God bestows unmatched wisdom upon Solomon due to his prayer request and he renders his first wise decision as king.  James is the New Testament equivalent to Solomon praying for wisdom in that Jesus' brother James asks for God's wisdom and councils us to seek it as well.  

Psalm 119, Acts 14 12.07.2022

Psalm 19, the longest written as a poem expresses mans need for God's guidance and direction as He loves us and seeks to give us safety and peace in relationship with Him.  A lame man is healed by Paul, resulting in his stoning death.  He then got up and returned to the city that stoned him.  

Psalm 37, 71, 94 10.07.2022

Psalms of David in faith praising God for the security of those who trust in Him and seek His refuge in old age.

1 Kings 2, Acts 13 10.07.2022

Before David's death he gives Solomon charge in how to deal with those who had sinned against God or God's anointed.  Judgement delayed is not judgement denied.  The first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabus, outpouring of the Holy Spirit with many being saved and the start of Paul's persecution.

Psalm 118, 1 Kings 1 09.07.2022

A psalm of thanksgiving for the Lord's saving goodness.  The Stone which the builders rejected has become the Chief Cornerstone. Intrigue leads David to announce Solomon as king before his death.
