Welcome to Little Pieces Club Ministries. We sit at the convergence of trauma science and faith. At its heart LPCM applies Middle Eastern Christian context (rediscovering what years of western tradition may have missed) to the science of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences(ACE’s). We walk along side children, teens, and parents who are recovering from relationship toxicity. The literature, art and spirit of the Bible points us toward the story of Jesus, The Good Shepherd. This story is a resilience factor in recovering from trauma large and small. Follow daily on instagram: @lpcministries

This is our final podcast in or Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Series. We finish with some practical applications of the Tree of Life Concept. We define the “Trauma Healing Trinity” as the Alienated Parent/Good Shepherd/Tree of Life. We look a little closer at a parable that helps us meditate on the Alienated Parent idea. I also highlight one more time the authors who’s work were thre...

LPCM 076: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 19: Becoming a Tree of Life: Part 1 28.09.2024

LPCM 075: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 18: Lost Sheep to Good Shepherd: Part 8 22.09.2024

LPCM 074: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 17: Lost Sheep to Good Shepherd: Part 7 15.09.2024

After a brief review of previous material, we are spending time on the aspect of God’s character. That is the good Shepherd. This week we asked the question are humans to be good shepherds like Jesus. In order to answer this question, we look at the life and character arc of Peter the disciple. We watch him grow and make lots of mistakes and even be called Satan by Jesus himself. But the end of al...

LPCM 073: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 16: Lost Sheep to Good Shepherd: Part 6 06.09.2024

This week we look at the concept of ezer kenegdo, the rescuing challenging helper. In the West we have been used to hearing that the female Eve was created as a suitable helper for Adam….there is deep context and wisdom that reveals just how bad, sad and dangerous this mistranslation has been. Instead we unpack the co-equal and breathtakingly beautiful message God is giving us about how men and wo...

LPCM 072: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 15: Lost Sheep to Good Shepherd: Part 5 01.09.2024

This week, we actually take a minor step back and take a deeper look into the idea of testing the spirits. We roll in the amazing work of Jim Wilder and his book called Renovated. Specifically, we look at the six negative emotions and how they map to the Greatest Blessing relationships that we have talked about. We take a very slow walk through assessing our negative emotions as they impact our re...

LPCM 071: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 13: Lost Sheep to Good Shepherd: Part 4 26.08.2024

This week we tackle two skills for the backpack for our Healing Journey. First is Kabod (“Kavode). While most Western Bible interpretations translate Kabod as Glory, we need to make sure this word is read in a more full context. With the help of Good Shepherd author Kenneth Bailey we find out that kabod is not the Glory that we think of in our modern context. It is NOT popularity, although God is...

In this episode we get back to the tools and skills needed for the healing journey. First we see that attachment is flexible. Think back to The Serpent’s Journey where you had the chance to test your attachment. Here we begin to see that not only is attachment flexible, but active discipleship is about learning wise-attachment to God, self and others (the three relationships) Knowing the Good Shep...

LPCM 068: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 11: Lost Sheep to Good Shepherd: Part 1 21.07.2024

Today we begin our next Journey: From Lost/Bad Sheep to Good Shepherd. We take a quick overview on the tools/skills that we will develop for this journey and focus on two: The first is our power to choose. Adam and Eve showed us the power our choices have. But the modern worlds (Father of Lies) tries to convince us that our true choices are limited or we are just victims of the harsh world that Go...

LPCM Episode 067: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Prt 10: The Serpent’s Deception Part 5 18.07.2024

Today is our last episode on the Serpent’s Deception. We revisit the Parable of the Unmerciful Servant from the angle of unforgiveness. We talk about the prison we find ourselves in if we have not forgiven others. Again, God takes personal responsibility for the way His created world works. While the language of the parable indicated the Master throws the servant into prison to be tortured, and th...

LPCM Episode 066: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 9: The Serpent’s Deception Part 4 14.07.2024

Today we pivot to the scripture. We explore the Parable of the Unmerciful Servant (Matthew 18: 21-35) and The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-32). We look at God’s character in relationship to forgiveness, for adversity makes it easier for the Enemy to drive us far from God. We think we need to be afraid, when what we really need to fear is the state of unforgiveness in our hearts. Brad G...

LPCM Episode 065: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 8: The Serpent’s Deception Part 3 10.07.2024

We continue our emphasis on the science of ACE’s. We highlight the long effects, but spend time on the fact that people in all walks of life can and often experience ACE’s. We can use this fact to divide people, OR the more “light” way is to see that as a multiethnic family we may experience different types of ACE’s and adversity, but our bodies and souls respond the same ways. Thus adversity can...

LPCM Episode 064: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 7: The Serpent’s Deception Part 2 01.07.2024

After a brief review, We focus on the area of theory called “Attachment Theory.” A special Thanks to TCU’s Trust-Based Relational Intervention and Karyn Purvis Institute (https://child.tcu.edu/#sthash.cwraX9ba.dpbs) Their work is inspiring and is worth looking into. They provide the framework for us as we look at how attachment forms in us. And the great work by Curt Thompson (Anatomy of the Soul...

LPCM Episode 061: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 4: Yet More Tools for the Journey 13.06.2024

This week’s tools. Fearless Living: Fear equals lack of trust in God. When coming face to face with spiritual beings/concepts humanity is told to “fear not” between 300-400 times Fear drives the need to control which disrupts relationships (Not being patient and kind) City Walls vs Sheepfold Cain built the first city, and part of the design includes walls. While cities can be places of great creat...

LPCM Episode 060: Healing Journeys with Science and Scripture Part 3: More Tools for the Journey 07.06.2024

Today we continue to review several themes notable to modern scholars in the Hebrew Bible. In our “Healing Journeys” series we are seeing what our destination looks like. Edenic concepts are both the starting point and destination. They represent God;s ultimate wish for his people. Each topic could be a podcast unto itself, but BibleProject devotes much time on many of these concepts.  So we will...
