He is fascinated by the historical foundations of American culture and thought, through a Christian lens.

On Easter, God’s kingdom on earth was re-started. And one day, it will be restored. That’s is what we celebrate today: history, cosmic history, changed that day—this day.

“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”…what does that mean? This word “commit” is a common word. It literally means to “place before.”

Jesus said "It is finished." The resurrection, Jesus’ ascension into heaven, and promise to send the Holy Spirit had not yet happened. What, precisely, was finished?

What do you yearn for? What do you feel you cannot live without?

The story of Scripture is that we have all cut ourselves off from God, and cut ourselves off from eternal life. And God is on a desperate mission to reconnect us to eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ.

Forgiveness is hard. And yet, when Jesus was nailed to the cross, his first response was forgiveness.

Generosity shows the world that we are children of God. That's true not only of financial generosity, but other kinds of generosity--time, hospitality, encouragement, listening.

Do you see God with the same eagerness that he sees you? Right stewardship is a result of the overflowing desire to respond and act.

Generosity is a response to grace. If we understand God's grace, we know that God is truly for us and will faithfully provide all we need. We are free to live generously and to share that grace with others.

Our practices with money, including spending, will shape, influence, and direct our hearts. So how can we spend money in a way that positively shapes our hearts? How can we be prudent spenders, instead of prodigal spenders?

How might you consider your work, whatever it is, to be a business in the kingdom of God?

God cares about every part of our lives. For the next few weeks, we'll be talking about money, because how we use money is a huge part of our lives. God wants us to be faithful, to trust God's teachings and that God will provide, and God wants us to be free, free from worry, anxiety, and stress over money.
