We began our Made New series last week by studying the new life we have been promised in Christ.  The Apostle Paul ventures onward in Romans 6. He wants his readers to be convinced of this critical truth:  The gospel not only gives us the promise of new life, but the power as well.

What is the "new life" we have in Christ and how do we experience it to its fullest extent?  Today we'll begin our "Made New" series and explore what it means to die to sin and walk in the newness of life.

New Year's Day is a great opportunity to celebrate what God has done over the past year.  As his church, we also anticipate what he will do in the new year and are encouraged toward continued faithfulness in the responsibility we have been given to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. 

Imagine receiving a birth announcement not just a few weeks or months before the child is born but CENTURIES. This is exactly what occurs in the book of Isaiah.  The prophet announces the birth of a child who will be the deliverer the people are awaiting—the one who will establish God’s kingdom and bless every nation on the earth.

Today we'll study the promise made to David in 2 Samuel 7.  As the Son of David, Jesus came to rule God’s Kingdom as its rightful king, and we are citizens of that Kingdom.

The story of Abraham and Isaac is essential to understanding the rest of the Bible. Through this oft misunderstood, strange tale, we see the ongoing conflict between the offsprings of the serpent and the woman as well as the continuation of God’s promise to send his deliverer.

Jesus, the eternal Son of God, left the glory of Heaven to put on flesh and step into the world he had created. What could cause him to put off his glory and to put on humanity in all our frailty and finiteness? To answer that question, we must go back to the beginning. By looking to the book of Genesis, we'll see that Jesus, as the Son of Adam, came to defeat the Devil and destroy the powers...

These final verses mark the end of Paul’s letter to Titus and Crete. The entire letter is meant to provide an inseparable link between faith and practice.  In verses 9-15, Paul exhorts Titus to not allow distraction or division to derail his devotion to Christ.

In today's passage, Paul communicates how a transformed heart leads to transformed living that is marked by good works.  May we be a people who pursue after these good works because of the greatest work which Christ has done for us.

In this passage, Paul wants to emphasize this truth: that righteous living is not how we earn salvation but the evidence of it. If we are to truly be a church committed to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, it will only be because of God’s grace —grace which we have received by faith in Jesus and grace that is being worked in us by his Spirit.

In this passage, the Apostle Paul writes to Titus about the importance of holy living and the responsibility that church members have in helping one another pursue a lifestyle that honors the Lord.

As we continues our Devoted series in Titus, we are reminded of the importance of clear, convictional, church governance and the sufficiency of the gospel of Jesus. As we study Chapter 1, take note of Paul’s instructions to Timothy of how to structure the church in a way that pleases God and builds upon the foundation of the gospel.

Today we begin our series in Titus: Devoted. These first four introductory verses of Paul's letter to Titus are key to understanding the letter in its entirety. 

The gospel not only has the power to change your family’s identity and purpose, but its legacy . How can we begin now to lay a foundation for the generations to come?

Continuing in our  Family Foundations series, today we'll discuss family responsibility, both in the home and in the church.  Who gives us these responsibilities? What are they? How can we faithfully carry them out?

All of us have experienced family conflict on some level but how do we handle it in a healthy and God-honoring way? How can we turn family conflict into something edifying and transformative? What does it look like to navigate conflict with maturity, empathy, and charity? Jesus gives us both the mandate to obey and the example to follow in the way that we deal with family conflict.

In this message, we'll look at habits of the household—habits that form your family, your marriage, and your parenting. These habits of the household provide a foundation for families living in God’s design.

This morning we’ll study the roles of the various members of a family. Scripture is clear that both the church and the family bring God glory when its members live out God’s design.  We also welcome Jay Boyd from Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries to discuss how this organization is providing hope for South Carolina’s children and families in need.

Today we begin a new series— Family Foundations.  From the very beginning of time, God designed human beings to live in community with one another and to share a common bond together.  God’s design and desire is for families to flourish by being founded, built, and centered on Jesus.

Our third and final core value at Lake Murray Baptist Church is Commission. Jesus commissions his disciples to share the gospel with their neighbors and the nations.  In light of the Great Commission, we must actively seek out opportunities to both serve and share with those who are close to us but far from Christ.

This week we continue in our Vision & Values series with our 2nd value: Commit.  What does it mean to be fully committed to Christ and his church?  One of the primary ways we express our commitment is through service .  As Mark 10 will demonstrate, true greatness is not found in accomplishment but in godliness exhibited through humble acts of service.

Continuing in our Vision & Values series, today we focus on our first core value: Connect. We'll look to Ephesians 2  to find two important truths about the Gospel and understand why Connection is our first value as a church.
