Trillions of dollars are spent each year by people wanting to improve their health and fitness. What does the Bible say, and how should Christians think about health, especially when our own bodies or minds start to let us down? 

At this time of year, many people are hoping that they will grow to be a better person in the months ahead. What would you like to change about yourself? What difference can Jesus make to both our vision for personal change and the likelihood that it will actually happen?

The big problem with the future is we don’t know what it will be. ‘What if...?’ has a powerful ability to cause us anxiety, stress or even fear. Is there anything we do about this, or is it just something we have to live with?

There is much wonder, peace and joy around the events of the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God. We explore the narrative, consider the virgin birth, and the events that Mary saw and heard. Luke 2:19. “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart”

There is a line in the well-known Carol ‘O little town of Bethlehem’ that says ‘the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.’ But how can something that happened so long ago help us as we face our anxieties and aspirations for the coming year?

This passage looks like everyone’s worst stereotype of the Bible: long, boring, incomprehensible and irrelevant. It does take some hard work to grasp what it’s saying, but when we do it both challenges and encourages us in the pressures of daily life. 

Daniel chapter 10 is another turning point in this prophetic book. Daniel has a disturbing vision of an angelic messenger, this comes after and in response to his prayer and fasting. The messenger gives him a glimpse behind the scenes, but more is to come. This is a preparation for a revelation about Kings and the end times.

History is full of acts of great evil and evil people behind them. Where is God amongst the chaos and how does knowing him through Jesus today make a difference as we consider evil in our lives and in the wider world?

Living for Jesus is highly satisfying, but seldom straightforward in a post-Christian culture. There is constant subtle pressure to compromise on what the Bible teaches in order to fit in and avoid trouble. Why is this, and how do we respond?

In a terrifying dream Daniel sees monstrous beasts and mysterious beings in a cosmic clash of power. What does it mean? And how can it help us when we are faced with evil in the world, and in our own hearts?

What does true faith in God look like in everyday life? What does this famous story of Daniel and the lions teach us, not only about Daniel's faith in action but also about the God in whom he trusted?

History is full of rulers, powers and empires that seemed invincible and permanent -until they suddenly weren’t. It’s easy to lose sight of the Bible’s message that there will only ever be one kingdom that will truly never end.

Even a brief look at history or the world today demands that we ask the main question of the book of Daniel: Is God really in charge? And if he is why does it really look like he’s not? How should we act when those in charge seem so unsuitable?

When your life doesn’t work out the way you hoped, what will you rely on to help you through? In the midst of the flames of life, we discover a faithful King who saves and protects us. The question is, will you bow to Him alone?

In Daniel chapter 2 we encounter a dramatic story, an anxious King, a mysterious dream, stunned wisemen, a hero, the foretelling of a different kingdom and learn who really is in charge!

Our series begins with some people who have been taken far from home and plunged into a strange new culture. How can they remain true to their identity and what does this say to us about living as Christians today in a culture which rejects or ignores Jesus?

Today we are appointing Andy as an elder at King’s Church, and so it’s a good time to remind ourselves of exactly what it means to be an ‘elder’ in the church. We need to be careful to hear what the Bible actually says, rather than what we think it is saying!

Jesus sets a very high bar for love in the Bible, but the question is, are we able to meet the standard?

How can there be a good God in a world like this? The bible says that we live in a fallen world. We can see it ourselves, in our everyday lives, things don't quite work right. Fundamentally there is something broken in us, we tend to go bad over time. We look at how Jesus helps us with this and how God wants to work with us to hold back the decay and ultimately renew our broken world.

Many laws in the Old Testament seem obscure, outdated and irrelevant - reading about rules that no longer apply can feel like a waste of time. We look at the regulation about not ‘eating blood’ and discover that it still has so much to say to us today.
