Jesus Time!

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out when to work and when to rest. I feel like God has been showing me how to live in the healthy rhythm that He designed. Tune in!

If Jesus’ yoke is easy and His burden light, then why am I running around like a lunatic with my hair on fire all the time? In the past, I have learned how to rest from that type of activity, but God is showing me how and when rest is most effective, and how work can be equally restful and satisfying. Please tune in to hear how God wants us to rest and work.

Sometimes, when we pray for peace, we are really praying that all of our circumstances work out. The peace that Jesus gives is the one that we truly need. The peace Jesus gives is not dependent on circumstances, but on His presence. We think that it will take a miracle for our circumstances to work out. The peace that Jesus gives us despite circumstances… That is the greater miracle.

Christmas time is the time of rejoicing. But what if you are not feeling very joyful? What if you’re in a season of lots of hard things? What if being in the Christmas season where everyone else is rejoicing, actually makes you more sad? As we wrap up our mental health series, I want to give a huge thank you to all of my awesome guests! As I processed all the wisdom and lessons, God led me to discover a life-changing truth during a three day retreat. Born into trauma, my very special guest. Wels talks about his journey from Haiti to America to Jesus. This incredible young man has been through much violence, walking past dead bodies to school, racism, and a fear-based striving so intense that failure to him meant death. All this felt so normal to him until Jesus was kind enough to invite him into healing.

It has been so encouraging listening to the stories of these brave men and women who have shared their struggles with us! Partway through the series, I have been struck by everyone’s different journey and different PACE. In a recent time with Jesus, God showed me His heart behind His pace. My friend, Saje, courageously shares her life story and the depression she is experiencing now. She has been through addiction, abandonment, self harm, homelessness, anxiety and panic attacks, grief, suicidal ideation, and more. She has tried everything to numb out and cope, and he has come to the unshakable conclusion that help is found in the One who is unshakable.

My very special guest and friend Madisen shares what it’s like to have OCD and ADHD! I enjoy this woman so much! She is open, transparent, and fun! She has such a heart to grow as she understands her brain and implements tools like medication, therapy, and taking her thoughts captive to obey Christ. Life training or LT is a yearly conference for high school students. The goal is to help them get closer to Jesus, get trained in evangelism, connect with the body of Christ, and enjoy fun fellowship. This year our church got to host it, and we have two very special guests who will tell us about their experience: one as a participant and the other as an adult volunteer.

Have you ever prayed to God and asked Him to show you which way to go? But really you knew which way you wanted to go and just wanted Him to give you what you wanted. Yep. Me, too. God gives us an example in the book of Jeremiah (Chapter 42) where the Israelites did the same thing, where they went wrong, and how we can do things differently.

30 years ago I experienced a very personal and amazing Independence Day. I came face-to-face with the all powerful, perfectly holy, and supremely righteous God. In that moment I became fully exposed.
