We don’t often associate God’s blessing with hardship, but that’s exactly the combination we’ll hear about today, as Pastor Daniel teaches about the experience of the Hebrew people under the rule of Pharaoh. He works them to the bone, but yet the people thrive. You may have experienced this and not even realized it…because often we struggle to see the good when we’re in the midst of adversity. But...

When a country attacks another, the country on the receiving end comes up with a proportional response. An attack for an attack, a bomb for a bomb. But, that’s not a Biblical response. As Christians, we’re asked to react disproportionately. Today, Pastor Daniel will explain what that means for us through the example of Joseph, who repays his brothers’ evil with kindness.

Today, you’ll be asked to take a hard look at yourself and your actions. Self-examination is never easy, but it takes you to an important place. When you see your lack, you can then get what you need. As Pastor Daniel says today, we are all followers, it’s just a matter of who you’re following. And anyone but God as the leader will just result in winding, circular confusion.

Imagine that you just blessed everyone you met. Family, friends, strangers, colleagues…just be a blessing to everyone. Today, Pastor Daniel speaks about Jacob’s last act before he dies…and it’s to pronounce God’s blessing on all of his sons. It was the most important thing for him to do…to communicate God’s love for his sons. We want others to know God’s blessing is available to them.

If you are a believer, then God has made you strong. But, that doesn’t always keep us from being lazy. He’ll give you every opportunity to do His work, but you have to take that step of faith. You’ll hear today as Pastor Daniel teaches, that one of Jacob’s sons was divided about this. We have to let God use our strengths, it’s the only way anything will ever get done.

The Bible is full of names, and in this teaching, Jacob is providing a prophetic word for each of his sons. When he comes to Judah, his prophecy sounds a lot like Joseph’s dream…with brothers bowing down. Pastor Daniel will unravel this line that points directly to the Messiah. Everything that Jacob said about the brothers came to pass…underscoring the divinity of Jesus.

Carrying around a secret sin is just like having a boulder strapped to your ankle….you’re not going to move forward until it’s dealt with. Today, Pastor Daniel addresses Jacob’s prophecy for his son Reuben, whose sexual immorality was found out. We’ll be challenged to consider whether we’re hauling around any sinful baggage, and encouraged to bring it out into the light.

If you want someone to accept you into any kind of relationship, you don’t dwell on your shortcomings, right? Or your sins of anger or jealously or deceitfulness...those things would be red flags to most people, yet we all have them in our pasts. As Pastor Daniel teaches today, Jacob’s adoption of Joseph’s sons, sight unseen, is like how our Father adopts us even knowing EVERYTHING about us..it’s...

You’re about to hear in this message, about how Jacob blesses Pharaoh when they first meet. As Pastor Daniel says, the Spirit of God wants to make us increasingly thoughtful. When you really consider it, how much time do we really spend thinking of others? We’re innately selfish, but filling someone else’s need is an outgrowth of the blessings that God has given you…a servant’s heart.

What kind of relationship would you rather be in, one that’s situational, or a covenant? Only one way is sanctioned by God, and that’s because He created marriage to be a lasting, growing, loving bond. Repay no one evil for evil. That’s a difficult practice to carry out. But as believers, we have to learn a more excellent way…and that only comes through God.
