Romans 14:10-19 / Kam Pugh Concluding a short series examining how Christians should love one another, Kam focuses in on the Bible’s exhortations for Christians not to judge each other. This does not apply to moral absolutes that God has established, but to preferential topics. Christians should not allow their personal preferences on subjective matters to get in the way of love for each other.

Romans 12:9-10, 16-18 / Dustin Ratcliff Part 2 of the sermon series about how Christians ought to interact with each other, Dustin emphasizes the importance of pursuing deep, familial relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We should offer profound grace and acceptance to each other while being vulnerable to receive the same grace and acceptance ourselves.

John 13:1-20, 34-35 / Demetrius Hicks Kicking off a series about how Christians should interact with each other, Demetrius points out how Jesus exemplified the humility of a servant as He washed His disciples’ feet. As the family of God, we should be willing to serve each other, even when it requires getting uncomfortable, messy, or awkward.

Esther 8-10 / Kam Pugh Walking through the last few chapters of Esther, Kam reminds us that love requires us to think of others, sacrificially putting their needs above our own.

Esther 5-7 / Kam Pugh The turning point of the book of Esther, chapters 5-7 present amazing irony in many ways, with the pride of Haman leading to his death and the exaltation of his enemy, Mordecai. We see God’s providential hand working behind the scenes so clearly in these chapters, providing for Esther and the Jews.

Esther 3-4 / Kam Pugh Progressing through the story of Esther, Kam emphasizes both the providential hand of God at work behind the scenes, and the cost often associated with standing up for Jesus instead of bowing to false gods.

Esther 1-2 // Kam Pugh Kam gives some pastoral guidance and clarification to the church before preaching an introduction to the book of Esther. Though God is not specifically mentioned in the book, His work will be evident throughout. We should keep in mind that His silence is not His absence; however bleak our circumstances, He is with us.

Jude 17-25 / Rechab Gray Guest preacher Rechab Gray preaches a message of encouragement and hope through the back half of the book of Jude. God’s love is a strong foundation that will never let us down, and when we place our hope in Jesus, we can rest assured that the Man who defeated death will present us to the Father who loves us perfectly and infinitely.

Psalm 19:1-2, 2 Cor 3:18, Hebrews 1:1-4 / Dustin Ratcliff Dustin explores a few passages regarding the fourth pillar of Iron City Church: the Glory of God. As Christians, we should live for God’s glory throughout our whole lives: in the times of organized ministry, in times of Bible study and prayer, and in the ordinary motions of going about our lives.

Jeremiah 29:4-7 / Kam Pugh As God has placed our church in the Southside of Birmingham, Alabama, we seek to specifically engage our city, being a blessing to those in our communities, and spreading the love of the Gospel throughout the city. Kam reminds us of the importance of this and gives examples of some practical ways for us to serve our city.

Kam Pugh In preaching the second pillar of Iron City Church’s core values, Kam reads from a variety of passages found throughout the Bible as he emphasizes the need for Christians and churches to be places of diversity. Especially in Birmingham, a city marked by physical division of races and economic classes, the Church of Jesus should oppose this unholy standard and pursue Godly diversity.

John 17:20-23 / Kam Pugh Unity is the first of Iron City Church’s four pillars, the first of the core values that we seek to embody as a church. Kam reviews and reminds us why Unity is so important to us as a church: because it is so important to God. Jesus prayed for Unity for his disciples, even as He is unified with His Father.

Isaiah 50:10-11, Luke 2:41-52 / Scott Cuidon A sermon to close the year of 2020, Scott shares some of his testimony and encourages us to wait on the Lord even when He seems absent. The Lord is faithful to work in His children and and we should always be aware and on the lookout for His work in our lives.
