In Light of the Gospel with Dan Blatz
The cross of the Lord Jesus Christ has absolutely transformed my life! Not only are my sins forgiven (which all Christians realize) but the cross is also the central theme of the bible and of my day to day life! I will be doing some Bible teaching as well as having conversations "in the Light of the gospel"!

1st Corinthians chapter 4 22.05.2026 36:12
The first 4 chapters of 1st Corinthians covers one basic topic. The church was dividing over Paul, Apollos, and Cephas... or Christ. They were misunderstanding the beauty and diversity of body of Christ! The church is not like one person. God is not using one man to build his body or temple. He wants to use all of us!
1st Corinthians chapter 3 22.05.2026 31:03
Paul is continuing to expose the Corinthians for their division in the church. They were choosing favourite ministers and putting themselves into different camps. Paul clears up this controversy by showing that all ministers are simply building on the same foundation! All are servants, "Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come;...
1st Corinthians Chapter 2 30.04.2026 36:27
Your faith should rest in the power of God not in the wisdom of men! This is seen most clearly at the cross and resurrection of Jesus!
A conversation with Peter Heide 30.04.2026 56:29
Peter Heide was born and raised in Mexico, and like many of the guests featured on this show, his early years were marked by alcohol, parties, and a lifestyle that led him into serious trouble. While many of his friends settled down and got married, Peter spent several years feeling alone and empty. Eventually, he met his wife, hoping that marriage—and even baptism--would fix the struggles he was...
A conversation with Lucian Janzen 02.04.2026 1:11:54
Lucian Janzen is the kind of young man a lot of parents hope to raise—hardworking, respectful, stayed out of trouble, and kept from a lot of the mess this world pulls people into. He came to Christ at a young age, so on the surface, his testimony might not seem all that dramatic. But what makes his story so meaningful is this: God still had to show him that he was a sinner in need of a Savior. Thr...
A conversation with Pancho Dyck 30.03.2026 1:37:41
Pancho is a longtime friend of mine, and although I’ve known him for years, hearing his full story gave me a much deeper appreciation for what God has done in his life. From being raised in Durango, Mexico, to the tragic loss of his father, to coming to faith in Christ, and later walking through a season of intense heaviness—his journey was very encouraging. While he was in Mexico, Pancho experien...
Katechismus question #1 (Mennonite Catechism) 22.03.2026 12:32
The Mennonite Katechismus has a lot to teach us... I'm going to start a series going through some of these questions and answers. Let's see what we can learn. This book ought to be read with the Bible open and in charge. May God bless our understanding of His will towards us.
1st Corinthians Chapter 1 18.03.2026 1:22:42
The Corinthian church was a mess in a lot of ways—which is probably exactly why it’s so helpful for us to study. We’ve got our own issues too. Chapter 1 gets into one of my favourite things to talk about: the wisdom and foolishness of God. Sounds backwards, doesn’t it? But as you work through these opening chapters, my hope is that you’ll start to see it—and even rejoice in what the Bible calls th...
A conversation with Isaak Hildebrandt 07.03.2026 40:52
Isaak is only 21 years old, but the Lord has done a powerful work in his life and he's excited to share it. Isaak was born and raised in Durango, Mexico, in a good and happy Mennonite home. Like many Mennonite young people, he spent time going back and forth between Mexico and Canada while growing up. But when he was around 12 or 13 years old, he started hanging around with other young people...
A conversation with Corny Klassen 19.02.2026 1:41:50
In this video, I speak with Corny Klassen. The entire conversation is in Low German (Plautdietsch), and by now you know—I struggled with it at times. Still, I believe there’s more than enough here for this conversation to be a real blessing to you. Years ago, Corny was banned (Utschluss) from the Old Colony Mennonite Church while living in Durango. The reason may sound small to some, but it was se...
A conversation with Aaron Rock 09.02.2026 1:22:19
In this conversation, I sit down with Aaron Rock, Pastor of Harvest Bible Church in Windsor. We talk about his journey into ministry and his deep appreciation for the Mennonite culture, something we connected over right away. His wife Susie was born and raised in a Mennonite home so we had a lot to connect over. Many of you likely became aware of Aaron during the COVID years, when he emerged as a...
A conversation with George Wiebe 05.02.2026 1:19:31
George was born and raised in Durango, Mexico, and moved to Canada at age 12 — only a few years ago! I didn’t realize just how young he is until we were well into our conversation. He came to faith in Christ just 8 months ago and has been married for 6 months. It’s exciting to see how God is already at work in his life, and I look forward to seeing where the Lord leads him. Much of this conversati...
A conversation with Peter Dyck 01.02.2026 1:22:43
Peter Dyck shares his testimony of deliverance and radical life change. After years of resisting God’s conviction, everything changed when God met him while driving his truck. He pulled over, spent three intense hours in prayer, and walked away forever changed — free from guilt, shame, and bondage to sin. Peter met Jesus in the bunk of his truck! We also talk about the deep trials his family has f...
A conversation with Cory McKenna 28.01.2026 1:21:18
Cory and I could not have grown up more differently. And yet, by God’s grace, we have come to many of the very same convictions about the faith of Jesus Christ. Cory spent his teenage years immersed in the rock and roll scene before being radically saved by Christ. Not long after coming to faith, he sensed a deep call to ministry—and eventually, to evangelism in particular. That calling led him to...
And we STILL DO! (Our wedding day!) 20.01.2026 9:28
Marriage is designed to perfect you. It will always be a challenge, it will always push you to become better or else you make the marriage miserable! This is a great picture of the gospel, of Christ and the church!
Colossians Chapter 2 09.01.2026 1:11:06
I was sure I had posted this study some weeks back but apparently I did not!? My apologies. Colossians 2 is one of the best passages to argue against man made religion or human effort as a way to come to God. We must be made complete and whole to have fellowship with God and by God's grace that is exactly what God has made us to be through Christ!
Colossians Chapter 4 09.01.2026 26:17
On my Whatsapp group these teachings come in 5 minute segments, you'll likely pick up on the choppy format. Hopefully the Lord blesses you through this book!
A conversation with Peter Enns 08.01.2026 1:10:49
In this episode, I interview Peter Enns, someone I grew up with near, and attended the Aylmer Old Colony with. Nearly twenty years ago, after I became a Christian, I tried to witness to Peter—but I was brash, and it didn’t go well. I never imagined we’d one day sit down for an honest conversation about faith, addiction, and freedom. After getting married, Peter struggled deeply with alcoholism. Th...

We're going to be celebrating the 100th episode of this Podcast with an in person, live interview and talk on marriage. A conversation with Jacob Andres 31.12.2025 1:02:29
In this conversation I talk with Jacob Andres, a 50-year-old man but a brand new Christian! He is so grateful for the new life God has given him! Jacob was very open about his years of struggling with alcohol, resisting God, and feeling like it all took far too long. During that time, two of his sisters died from cancer, which deeply affected him and really increased the conviction! He shares hone...
Colossians chapter 3 12.12.2025 1:25:42
It's one thing to understand that God has forgiven our sins through the death and resurrection of Christ, but to also see yourself as being buried with Him and raised to heaven with Him is another whole thing! We have victory over sin through through being dead with Christ and being seated with Him in the heavenly places!
A conversation with George Schmidt 10.12.2025 1:29:24
In this episode I sit down again with George Schmidt. The first time he was on, we talked about his conversion to Christ and how he got started singing Plautdietsch Gospel music. This time the conversation goes a lot further. George shares stories from his travels through Bolivia, Mexico, and across Canada—singing, meeting people, and seeing firsthand what’s happening in some of the Mennonite colo...
A conversation with Henry Andres 28.11.2025 1:42:16
In this episode I sit down with Henry Andres and we talk through his journey from being a “good” kid on the outside to actually coming to a place of real faith. Henry grew up in the Old Colony church. He knew the basic Bible stories, he behaved well, and by all appearances he was a good boy and then a good man. But underneath that, he had sins that were hidden—mainly pornography—that brought a lot...
A conversation with Nate Wright 13.11.2025 1:22:50
In this episode, I sit down with Pastor Nate Wright from Ingersoll Bible Church to talk about why he preaches through the text—verse by verse, book by book. Nate shares why that kind of preaching/teaching protects pastors from drifting into unnecessary creativity and keeps Christ and the Gospel at the center of every message. We also talk about the craziness of the COVID era. Ingersoll Bible Churc...
A conversation with Jake Thiessen 11.11.2025 1:09:08
In this episode, I sit down with my friend Jake Thiessen from Cuauhtémoc, Mexico, to hear his story of faith, family, and adventure. Jake and his wife Agatha were the ones who invited me to speak at the Lebenswasser Church marriage conference a couple of years ago, and since then we’ve had the privilege of seeing their heart for God and for people up close. Jake shares about his upbringing, how he...
